Are these polyps dead?

I think your kh is kind of high. My zoas don't seem to like it when it gets above 10. I keep mine around 7.5.

I have moved them to the sand and turned the lighting down some and now I will just wait and hope they come out of it.

Is your alk at 8.2 or 12? What % do you have the led set at and how high above the tank is it? That 300w mars led can really put out some intensity, so if you are at 100% at 8" above the tank (assumptions) they are probably getting some major par on a 29g, i would bet 600+.

I will work on the kh.I am using ro water.

The kh is going to come from your salt initially and then you would have to dose to keep it up unless you do it with water changes. Some salts can be on the high side and if you have nothing in your tank using it up then it will stay high. Which salt are you using? I'm assuming the 8.2 was your PH and not alk.

300 watts on a 29 gallon that is a lot of light and they are up to high on the rocks. I would move them down like suggested till they accumulate. But with that much lighting you will probably not get them to that location as it will be to high a light level for their liking. If you do it will take months to properly accumulate them. That spot you have them in is prime real estate and is the hot spot of high light that is right below the fixture and would be better off with a high light coral. You should place it on the substrate below the yellow tang if it has good flow. That is where I would put them if this was my tank.
I just changed the light to a Marineland Reef light that has 24 one watt white and 12 one watt blue light will this work on the 30 gallon tank and would you leave them on the bottom with this light

You went from really intense to not real intense. So it's normal for zoas to adjust. I'm not saying your all good but it's possible they come back

I would it can't hurt as you just had a big light change. If it responds positively then slowly move it up. You can place it on a rock to raise it up in about a week or so to help raise the height if you don't have a slightly higher spot in the rocks. In the case of polyps you are better off going the safe route of less light and just make it up with extra feeding. It they are getting good flow the extra food will make up the loss of productivity from the zooxanthellae from the decreased lighting. The tissue is healthy so if you do move them down and it is not ideal they will be fine for the time frame you need.

Thanks I will let you know if and when they come out of it!

You are welcome. I think they will be fine. The tissue is still healthy so you should not have and long lasting damage. When the polyps come out take a look and see if any tentacles look burned. They will typically look way shorter then they should or the polyp heads crinkle sometimes a little and can't fully open till they heal. Just leave them in that spot unless they get worse for now. You don't want to be moving them to much all the time and causing stress.

Those polyps resemble my deep water Caribbean (brown, cinnamon, and green basic colors) and they like low light and low flow. I have only kept zoa and paly polyps for about 4 months and have only had a few grumpy (semi-mad) ones. I use Seachem reef (Iodine, I believe) dip for 5-10 minutes and rinse in aquarium water before I put them in...6 drops to 2 cups of water and (knock on wood) I haven't had any problems. BTW, I also have a 29 gallon, but with a Current Orbit Marine Led light that seems to work well. I have just coaxed a grumpy Chaos polyp out that has not opened for 3 weeks when the mother and other two daughter polyps have had no issues. Good luck

Update; Polyps still have not come open.I think it not going to happen..

Try using a turkey baster and forcing water over/into the individual polyps. Sometimes that coaxes polyps out after first making them close more tightly. Good luck (make sure the turkey baster is new or only used in aquarium)

Thanks I will give it a try!

I just had another thought. I had to finally move my polyps to a darker corner, like the left side of your aquarium. They really like it there. Low light and low flow for darker polyps ( I have heard)
