Are you currently struggling with anything...

My tanks struggling for no apparent reason and its aggravating. Parameters are on point and stable, light/flow are covered and nutrient levels are right here I want them. And yet...

So I just sent out an icp hoping it would reveal something but the results did not turn up anything obvious.

It's one thing when you have an issue with a direct cause but in theory my tank should be thriving. it's frustrating.

Are you using RO/DI water? How old is your tank?

Struggling to pick a skimmer for my 40B build. Watching the holiday sales closely

Marine Depot has Bubble Magus curve 5 on sale - good price, excellent skimmer.

This is the exact skimmer I was going to recommend but @Mical already took care of it. :) And if it's on sale, all the better!

It's about a year and 4 months old and I have a 5 stage rodi unit.

Hopefully the ICP will show something.

Just some things off the top of my head....

Carbon blocks don't last very long. They do a great job of removing chloramine/chlorine, but standard blocks aren't good at chloramine's. Blocks made for chloramine are good, but most won't last past 3000 gallons total water passed through a RO/DI unit. Waste and good water.

Adding a extra Di resin cartridge may help.

I’ve been in the hobby few for a few years now and I still can’t get my head around dosing calculations. Everything is still a bit of this and a dash of that. Is all guess work but it still works somehow, I really like Would like to learn it somme day though.

With a smaller tank I have a smaller footprint of dosing. I feel like a scientist with all the documentation and testing I do. I like seeing the progress in my reef parameters notebook.

My problem right now is lighting. I have 1 kessil a160we over a 20g long tank. I'm figuring out how to make it a hyprid with two t5's added to it to get faster growth.

I struggle with balance... the tank's balance that is, except for those occasions where I have been carbon dosing myself. I can't find a happy medium. It's either too much algae/Cyano or pale corals due to lack of food and nutrients.

Just got my tank cost a pretty penny for us and I need to get around to telling my fiancé that I have some upgrades in mind. Intank baskets better return pump etc. might just spread then out over the next year.

I struggle with flow. I never know if certain corals are getting the right flow.

I also struggle with affixing corals to the rock work.

Currently my phosphate seems to be rising. From .03 to over .1 in a week. Not sure if it's an issue as I don't think I have any undue algae issues.

Also a monti is bleaching I think because it was getting too much light so I moved it lower but without a PAR meter I struggle knowing if the corals are in the right light.

I am not sure if I have enough pods getting in the display tank to support the mandarin that I want.

I'm going to be building a fish room in my basement and making the sump out of an aquarium and not sure how to place the drain pipes going into the sump.

Shorter question would have been "Is there anything you aren't struggling with". Answer, I think I have feeding schedule down. lol (although with the rising phosphates I may have to revisit that)

Thats the one I was comparing, then it went on sale for $157. Kind of made the decision easier :)

Glad to see that up to this point, most everybody seems to have first world problems. I havent heard anyone say they are struggling with foraging enough food for their family or that they are struggling to see the crocs. in the river as they do their laundry on the shore. I have it really good.
Cheers! Mark

I have 4 hydras over my tank 2, 52s and 2 26s.. it's a corner bow tank so odd shape..
I'm frustrated bc I finally got the lights dialed in after a year of this and that and both my 52s lost the uv channel one lost half the whites and all the reds. And one of my 26s lost the blue. So now they're all junk. Ughhhhh

Stopped carbon dosing because no3 and po4 was undetectable and my sps started to stn. Now dosing some po4 and adding more fish, coral food just for hopes to get it back on track

did you vodka dose? Also did you follow the guidelines of how much to dose compared to water volume? I have high nitrates and I have been vodka dosing for over a month with no improvements.
