What set of T5’s have you ordered, maybe someone on here can share how they have diy they’re. I have made my hybrid out of an old hybrid MH/t5 am always up for a bit of DIY

I ordered these ones.

I plan on making an aluminum metal fixture and welding these t5 fixtures to the fixture. I'd make the fixture raised ~6" above the water line. I'd have 3 slots for the kessil a160we's so I can evenly space them in between the t5 fixtures.

The t5 lighting would be one purple plus and one aqua blue special.

Cool if we brainstorm some idea's - I have a 20g long tank.

Lights a AI Prime 10 inches off waterline running a modified AB+. I dont think lighting is the issue. People running the same light over the nuvo have success with sps running both less light and more light than me.

I've literally been over everything and the icp was a last ditch effort to find something.

Hi am just wondering if you have tried to run some poly filter? there’s a small possibility that some contaminants may have found way in to your tank that an icp wouldn’t show. Household aerosols or even by just contact with your hands.

Could you post one of the tank parameters or all 3, maybe someone could chip in. Normally dinos is closely connected with a certain imbalance on parameters.

As for people struggling with dinos I might be able to help you out. Get your tank really dirty. I mean like cant see into it dirty. No waterchanges, no glass cleaning, Nothing. Dont touch the tank for at least 2 weeks other than heavy daily feedings. Get the no3 and po4 really up there. Your corals will be fine but the dinos wont be.

Alk 9.0 cal 450 and mag 1400 in both tanks and levels are consistent. PH ranged from 8.2-8.4. I ran no3 to 20ppm dosing nitrates and I increase po4 to maxing out my Hanna ulr by dosing phosphate. The theory of make a dirty tank is false.

I have Amphidium so I was told.

Bacteria dosing and blackouts help for a couple of days to a week even when dosing for weeks. Once I back off of black outs and dosing they come right back and take over sand, rocks, pumps, corals, snails and even fish fins.

I have UV doesn't do anything other than make my water clear.

I bought live rock from KP aquatics, I bought mircle mud, I've tried h202 does nothing.

I was thinking of trying pH elevation but my pH hits 8.5 at times and I see no difference, in fact when the Dino's are blooming heavily they make my pH increase!! And they seem to do just fine.

I've tried manual removal, only to see the sand brown 5 minutes after syphoning that area!

I've tried macro algea, Dino's just take over the cheato and kill it.

I'll try anything as long as it doesn't hurt my fish. My corals and snails I don't care about.

I'll even pay someone to come handle this, but no one knows what to do when it comes to dinos.

Increasing po4 and no3 is always a good strategy, did the numbers staying up? Have you got a pic you could share to?

Not sure where the levels are yet will test in a bit. Going for 50+ppm of nitrate and no idea where po4 is as Hanna is already maxed out. 200 on the ulr is .6 I maybe at 1ppm after the dose today.

Yes please a pic of the a rock or sand bed where affected, it may be risky to bring N and P to high, wend I’ve dealt with mine I just brought them up just enough to be detectable levels, bringing them to high could have they’re own implications.

I’ve been in the hobby few for a few years now and I still can’t get my head around dosing calculations. Everything is still a bit of this and a dash of that. Is all guess work but it still works somehow, I really like Would like to learn it somme day though.

I haven't bought my first coral, but when I do, I plan on dosing with Tropic Marin's All-for-reef (and if it works for me, i'll do the DIY version). I'm trying to simplify everything i can at the beginning, and move on from there as i feel comfortable. GL

Thank you, it looks like it’s going away, if it was me I would just let the tank stabilise now, letting nutrients go down to average parameters I would also dose phytoplankton, bottled bacteria and zooplankton as a last push

I will show you what it looks like in a day. Before syphoning the sand was horrible 80% coverage in slime. Doubt it is going away. The rocks were clean 2 weeks ago. Snails were clean. Past 3 days the snails shells are covered.

I guess this counts as struggling, I am convinced that my coral isnt as bright and Colorful as the frags I sometimes bring in. My po⁴ is never higher than 0.1, NO³ is 20ppm. It's an lps softies tank. Growth and extension on everything is actually amazing. Definitely no complaints there. I use reef crystals salt and usually do weekly 10% water changes. I'm thinking maybe trace elements of some sort. I don't really have any other ideas at this point.

That's because the amounts always change. If the values get high, the corals take off and the test values drop. You increase the dose and the corals can't keep up so the values rise. You decrease the dose and they drop.... It's never ending. I wait weeks until I change the dose.
