How many of us are ich eradication or ich management? So many stories out there i just want to get a baseline of where the reefing community is at.

I QT and treat prophylactically. I don’t like having Ich or other parasites in the tank because I don’t like mysterious fish deaths or disappearances.

I do a hybrid TTM with Copper or Chloroquine Phosphate. I combine that with FW dips or H2O2. I then treat with API GC both food soaked and in tank. For the most part I don’t need to do much after that.

Don't have space for a QT, I only buy from places that I know have good QT, its a little expensive and limiting but worth it
That’s what I hear a lot that people sometimes don’t have room for another tank. It’s quite expensive to start up too, salt, more heaters, decent powerheads. I can understand.

yeah, if I eventually get a large tank ill try and find space for a QT, but in a 15 gallon with only a small handful of livestock that will be added from sources that do good and effective QT I dont think its worth it, it will just detract from money better spent on improving the DT

New fish get Prazi and either TTM or copper, so I don't have to worry about worms/ich/velvet. It usually doesn't take me 45 days though. Somewhere around 2 weeks, usually.

My primary QT is a Petco 10/G with Aquaclear Filter (you can use up to 70). My heater is a 50W I believe. I have two sets of everything. I also use a Fluval Q1 air pump with small ceramic air stone that I run with certain meds.

I guess I'm "management" at this point as I don't have a QT, but I've seen no indication of ick and don't plan on adding additional fish. I fully believe in the value of QT and have always had a QT setup on previous systems. But my current nano in our in-town condo is my fiancee's introduction to reefing and I don't think I could get away with adding a separate tank simply for QT purposes. I hope to eventually upgrade and use my EVO as a QT, but for now I'm risking it. I just have 3 fish (tailspot blenny, DaVinci clown, and orchid dottyback). The most recent addition was the dotty (2 months ago). So if ich is in my system, they haven't shown signs of it. I've added coral as recently as this week (I always dip, but don't QT coral) so as long as I'm adding stuff, the threat is never zero.

14 days copper treatment with General Cure 2 x 7 days apart to cover ich, velvet, internal worms and flukes. I then transfer to sterile tank for 14 days for observation.

I QT in a fully established 40G. All fish go in there for at least a few weeks, usually a month. It has LR, sand, HOB filter, heater, ect. I would say it cost $500 to set up, which is not much when you have a 200G display with $$$ of fish in it.

My fish go to QT for observation, and to treat for internal parasites (I find them more than half the time). If anything more serious comes up, then into a 40G hospital tank (not always running), for treatment. I buy from one store and 90% of the time the only thing I encounter is internal parasites so most of the time the fish go into the display after a month or so.

If I do get a fish with ich or anything more serious, I keep the QT fallow for 3 months and in that time I know I can't buy fish.

I used to murder a lot of fish by ignorantly dumping them into the display (with parasites), and only trusting my LFS (they QT but it's not enough). I felt guilty. Now the hobby is much more enjoyable. I have really old fish that are kept safe.

It won't be popular but in my opinion, not QTing is irresponsible.

I wish I had the patience for QT but I just don't. My blue tang and yellow tang get ich at least once every year, usually in the summer when my feeding and maintenance habits take a back seat to life. A large water change followed by increased feeding and it all goes away. Has been that way for those two fish for the last 7-8 years with no ill affects that I can see. Still seem fat and happy.

I quarantine everything now, but my largest tank is over 15 years old and in ich management. My other 2 tanks are parasite free. In the large tank i wouldnt be able to remove the fish without tearing out and breaking large colonies of sps so i just gave up on getting rid of the ich. Ive only seen the spots come out a couple time over the years when there was a problem with the tank but if you look at it now youd never know ich was in the tank.

I hate the name "Ich management". It is really immunity which is what I practice.

Ich management sounds like we keep parasites in stalls like on a farm ;Meh

Is it actually "immunity" if you actually have it? You mean asymptomatic.
