Well Somebody would like to know the why behind the answer of "no can do" ;)

I want to learn something new today. ;Smuggrin

This where a invention starts.
Learn why it can't be done with current tech, and find the work around.

So basically if someone were to design a new wetside cover for an MP10/40/60 where you could direct the output stream ... goal accomplished?
But ( I'm not saying I know) if ETM owns the tech, can you as a individual make a add-on device and will it be legal?

It would be considered an after market accessory to be used with their external motor. Patents, not what I want to argue though lol.

@tsav87 Keep thinking! your on to something. Isolation transformers work on this principle, their is no physical connection but an air gap, this prevents noise or spikes (transients) to disrupt sensitive equipment. The only issue in this app. is size of the coils needed

Hey I'm not looking into business with this idea. I wanted to throw the idea out there so that maybe one of the already established companies out there could pickup on it so that the whole reefing community could benefit.

Wait. All the people saying it can't be done... What about wireless charging our phones? A wireless pad transmits something that generates power on the inside of the phone. It travels through glass (most, if not all, wirelessly chargeable phones are glass backed) and a case too. The power is stored in a battery, but why would it need to be? Probably a much smaller amount of power for our phones, but everything can be made bigger ;). I'm not an electrical engineer, but we already have technology that does this to a smaller extent..

Correct, the question is how it would do in water. Wireless charging to phones is done through the air

Or... why not just put a battery in the wetside that powers the magnet, and recharge the battery constantly?

Right!? Gary, get the dust blown off of your time machine!
He was an old drinking buddy. Nobody believed him either. :-)

It is done through air, yes, but there would technically be very little water in between a charger and wetside, right? Only enough the squeeze between the wetside pad and glass? It could be enough to inhibit though, for sure.

My thoughts as well.

It could be done but the power lost doing it... Would we want to do it is the question.
We save a lot of power on dc pumps. I don't think I would buy one to spend more on my electricity costs. So, as shark tank says, I'm out.

Power lost, sure, but how much? Is it significant? I think it's worth ($$$) investigating.

Try & contact this Eric Giler , the guy who did the Ted talk. see what he says.
All the innovation is very interesting. Would it be cost effective? All kinds of questions.
