here is something in high numbers I have found in cyano.
I believe its some sort of parasite

I know you research is to target cyano, but would be interested to see any findings of Peroxide vs various other nuisance outbreaks. I knocked by cyano out with a dragon goby, well at least its under control sand is sparkly white and my rocks are only covered in green hair.....:mad:
therefore, my new target is Green hair, had a bit of a scare that it was bryosis, but after a closer look im confident enough to say that it is hair algae.

I recently scooped 2 bottle of peroxide to knock it out, but first I want to catch my peppermint so I don't kill him. gonna throw him in the nano for a while.

Would also be willing to send you a plethora of GHA if you so desire. I have seen several testimony's to peroxide vs various algae outbreaks.

Yes h2o2 is effective against many algaes.
GHA is one I have only touched bases with a handful of times.
Excellent again to bryopsis but only out of tank treatment that I have found and also worked with Brandon during the testing.
I have not worked with algaes on a micro scale.

Todd, I like your research as I HATE adding unnecessary chemicals to my tank. One thing I have thought of is how the H202 would react with vitamins and amino acids. I know a lot of folks dose those things. Do you think the H202 would oxidize them? It has been a LOOONG time since I have taken any chem, but IIRC doesn't H202 give up one of its oxygen molecules very easily? Again, it's been a long time since I have had chemistry so please disregard this post if it is completely moronic.

I've been trying peroxide against the "why are some of my zoas closing?" scourge. Turns out it helps! I wound up stopping and doing a chemiclean round but the anecdotal evidence suggests it was working. Albeit annoying my zoas every time I dosed.

This is why I am doing this. What is the cost of chemiclean compared to h2o2.. it's substantial.
Also h2o2 has less effect on skimmers and no need to remove carbon.
The life of h2o2 is under 24 hours based on my current tests.

Exactly! My observations are that the zoas are only annoyed by the H2O2 for about 2 hours.

Nope. They bounce right back. Acans don't notice at all nor does my hammer coral. Ricordia appears to not like it though. It also bounces back.

This is what I love about peroxide.. such a short half life but effective

24 hours in peroxide measured 100ml water to .1ml h2o2

hard to get a clear image due to cell breakdown. May have to dye or use immersion to get high definition results
Obvious chain breakdown and cell degradation.

Chemi-Clean may cost more but who cares?

The Cost is Trivial!

I have heard of quite a few tanks crashing because people were messing around with Peroxide.

So unless Algae was so bad and I tried everything the only time I would ever consider using Peroxide is if I was so Mad I was going to take the Tank Down.

Then at that Point who cares if you Crash the Tank since you are Taking it Down Anyways.

I will stick with Chemi-Clean.

Yes, It costs a few Dollars more but it works and I can sleep at Night knowing my Tank Will Not Crash.
