Desperate calls for desperate measures. My Frenchie has not been doing well so I took him to ER for a CT scan. Hopefully the docs can find something wrong with him… (fingers crossed)

Fish Update - Day 2 under full hypo:

• Gem Tang: more active today, swimming and grazing, cloudy eyes are better
• Koi Tang: completely healed!
• Hippo Tangs: 2 of 3 are fine, 1 still has ich
• Naso Tang: very active & eating since the beginning, skin has some discoloration (hard to explain)
• Emperator Angel: active but not eating like a hog vs before, cloudy eyes and head area
• Queen Angel: not as active, hiding, not eating, no other signs on body
• French Angel: not as active, hiding, not eating, no other signs on body, heavy breathing

pH: 7.77
Ammonia: 0.08 (prior), 0.42 (yest), 0.57 (today) - added more Prime, some biocubes from other matured tank, and MicroBacter7. I've read that Prime detoxify ammonia but you still pick this up in test kits? I've removed 1 dead fish (storm clownfish) and 1 large turbo snail last night.

Any other ideas to reduce/control ammonia, that will be appreciated.

Already did - Dr Tim will be here tomorrow actually. I prefer Fritz 9000 better but I can get Dr Tim faster!

Dang, sorry about your fish troubles. I have fish traps of all sizes if you want to borrow and target certain fishes for isolation/treatment.

I would get Fritz 9000 to get more bacteria because it is very fast. More water changes. But I get it, one of the problems with huge tanks is making enough water for any meaningful water changes. Maybe you can try soaking the fish food in selcon and garlic extract, it is supposed to open up the fish appetite to eat more.

Dang, sorry about your fish troubles. I have fish traps of all sizes if you want to borrow and target certain fishes for isolation/treatment.

I would get Fritz 9000 to get more bacteria because it is very fast. More water changes. But I get it, one of the problems with huge tanks is making enough water for any meaningful water changes. Maybe you can try soaking the fish food in selcon and garlic extract, it is supposed to open up the fish appetite to eat more.

Thanks - I’ve never had this situation before! All my years, I’ve lost a few but not like this. Thinking back, I should have gone the copper path but too late now.

Sorry - with 17 pages, I can’t go back and search for this, but are the affected fish breathing fast? Hypo is slow to work, and doesn’t work if the infection is too far advanced, but it does cure ich and flukes, just not brooklynella or velvet. Those tend to cause rapid breathing…..

Those affected suffered from rapid breathing, yes.

Guys — I think it’s too much stress for the fish. I’m going to take my chances and slowly raise salinity in the following week back to 1.025. The big fish can’t handle the hypo so I hope I have a better chance stabilizing the tank.
