I know the feeling. I lost a good amount of fish as well and literally didn’t have the time to drain the tank and remove the fish. Ended up having to wait at least another month before going fallow. Really sucked.

Can’t imagine. On my 200 it was a nightmare. I was stuck in Hawaii during the crowdstrike thing. Had a friend try and he killed one or two . And then most died in QT, some of my first fish.

Met @bakbay this past weekend, he bought my livestock from the 120g I just broke down.

Haven't been to any kind of meetup or any of that in years, like a decade plus ago when I was in the discus scene. Don't know if I just fell out of it, or what?

There's supposedly an OC frag swap, but I've never been. I think @TangerineSpeedo might know more about that one. I know there's a SFV group that meets occasionally, but I'd rather grab a lionfish with my bare hands that do that drive. Some people occasionally come to my office in Irvine when I do group ReefCleaners buys, but that's not a real meet-up so much as a pick-up/chat.

It seems like maybe we should start one! I’m in Los Angeles but I’m game to do swaps or meet ups here and there. I have a couple reefing buddies and they’ve been such a help for me you can’t put a number on it. One friend drove out from OC after I OD on Bacto balance and took all the corals to his tank. Definitely worth building a community:.

Thanks for the fish! I need to acquire more to restock. I'm trying to get 6 medium angels so I can QT while I wait; however, worrying about ammonia buildup.

You guys are more than welcomed to come to my house and help me QT and move all my fish over to another tank in a few weeks! My fish room is fully equipped with 4 tanks, testing equipment, sofas, TV, restroom, fridge + adult beverages, and a microwave! lol

Someone was/is doing a "tank tour" on SCR but unfortunately a little too far from me -- one was up north and another was in the inland empire, both are 1.5hrs away.

The high dollar angels (especially the better pomacanthus) are insanely expensive anymore.

I remember buying a frenchy for like 35-40$ back in my Fowlr days (pre 2015).

I'd go broke stocking that 450g pig these days. All I'd want are high dollar large tang's and large angels .

No kidding — I lost a HUGE Gem and Koi 2 wks ago. My Naso survived but going to be $$$ to restock those. I do have a medium Gem so going to take 3-4 years to reach that size.

Angels grow fast though — esp on a big tank.

Ugh, I'd rather stab myself in the eye with a hot poker before driving up to anywhere in the San Fernando Valley. I groan when driving to LAX for work as it is and haven't drove north of the 10 fwy for anything significant in ages (once upon a time I did it for just about everything). If I'm working in another city, I fly out of SNA (Orange County) if I can help it and eat the parking cost myself versus driving to LAX.

I’ve resisted to go to these things nowadays since I know myself - impulse buying and might lug home a bunch of corals that I don’t have space for. For now, I’m after fish than corals.

I actually prefer tank tours - meet local reefers on a personal basis: fire up the BBQ, talk reef, equipment setup, sports, etc. In fact, I can even host one in OC but kinda embarrassed atm given my fallow period. The fish room is still a mess with all the buckets & stuff.
