Best GFO and carbon reactor??

Damon,

do you know if anyone has used Po4x4 gfo, or the all in one biopellets with this reactor?
Yes, I know they have tested with the all in one pellets and i was told it works great also!

It's a surprisingly powerful and versatile reactor, even with the tiny pump in it..

I got the Vertex for a build I'm planning. Although, I have yet to actually use them I can speak to the quality of materials and build. They are not even comparable to my old TLF reactors. These things are solid, beautifully crafted, and certainly made to last. They make the TLFs look like one of my old school DIY projects..

This +1! really great build quality and super easy to use, with union ball valves.

I still have a pair up for sale, if anyone is interested! holla

I installed the BRS dual reactor yesterday using the MJ1200 pump (recommended by BRS). The GFO is BRS High Capacity and the carbon is BRS ROX 0.8, I tell you that so you know the size of the media.

I immediately love the high quality/durable materials used in the build, its the same as my RO/DI canisters.

The 1/2" feed line is solid white so no light will get in and cause algae growth like I was constantly getting with my clear tubing on the Two Little Fishies reactor. There is a schedule 80 pvc valve to control flow rates which is easy to use and doesn't stick (at least not yet) anywhere near as much as my TLF valves.

Yes, you cannot control flow independently in the stock configuration. However, with about 1 1/2 - 2 cups of GFO and equal amount of carbon I am getting more than enough flow with the valve only half open. GFO will settle overtime as we have discussed so if that changes I will update the thread.

I currently run a BRS Dual Reactor that I have hard plumbed with a Spears Gate Valve and running a Sicce Syncra Silent 1.5 pump (357gph). As far as the GFO, been using the Phosphate remover P04X4 and have been getting great results.

Not a fan of the dual reactor since you can't adjust the flow individually and GFO needs more flow than carbon. I use two of the individual BRS reactors plumbed off of a manifold. Works great for me.

@saltyhog - care to share a pix of your manifold mate?

Sure, it's very simplistic. I just put a T in the main return line and then another Y off of the T with John Guest (push to lock) fittings to fit the reactors.

This is the T off of the main return. I put a valve in it because the valves that come with the reactors don't always shut off flow completely and that way when I change media there's no drip.

This is the Y (a T that is not a 90 degree but more of a 45 degree) and the push to lock fittings.
