best way to kill single aiptasia?

IME, all of the above methods work some of the time. Unfortunately, with aiptasia "some" doesn't cut it. Anyone ever try sucking them out with a strong pump and narrow tubing? I would think that with strong enough suction a person could remove ever last piece of the little ******s.

I just use aptasia x. I find small ones about once a month and nuke them.

Unfortunately most of the time you inject anything into an aptasia it will lead to babies showing up later, even months later. IME it turned into a maintenance routine as more just reappear. If the rock can be removed then that's always my first suggestion.

I kept having this problem. I made two changes and it stopped. First, I added a dozen peppermint shrimp to my tank. Don’t be delicate with them. One may not help, a group will.

Second, when I use AptasiaX I saturation bomb the area. I start with the nem, then put down enough to cover about a quarter’s size of area around it.

I agree @Servillius, if I have to use kalk paste I make it thick and saturate the area.

I have a single aiptasia about the size of a dime in my 14g nano. Its right up next to my hammer and appears to be stinging it (polyps on that side are withdrawn). What is the best way to rid my tank of this pest? hot RO water or one of the commercial products available?

I had 2 or 3 pop up this year. I applied a glob of super glue to seal them in. It's immediate and safe. Haven't seen any more in several months.

The glue and the putty work great until they don't. IME, aiptasia are slippery and live rock is very, very porous. If possible, I always remove any rock, frag plugs, powerheads, or whatever else the pests are growing on and eradicate them outside the tank; however, it is neither practical nor easy to remove large pieces of infested live rock from a 180.

Kalkwasswer paste (kalk + water) and a syringe. Turn the circulation pumps off for a few minutes and then coat the little demon with it.

I had one about the same size. I tried hot water. I tried Kalk. Then I tried Aptasia X. I did not think I had gotten him with the X but it nailed him.

I've had good luck with Kalk paste too. I use a 1mil titration syringe with kalk slurry in it. It may take a couple applications.
Peppermint shrimp are great if the aiptasia are spreading.

If you use the super and the rock has a lot of other holes then plug them up too. Most of the time the aptasia will find another exit from the same rock.

you are 100% correct. He popped out in another hole. So, I zapped him with 10ml of boiling RO water. that was about 24 hours ago. no sign of him yet. fingers crossed

Easiest and cheapest I done is turn off all pumps, use vinegar in a syringe and inject where the aptasia is. Worked great for me.

I've always had good luck with Joe's Juice.
