So can I ask a question? The rapid led kit for the biocube...worth it? Am considering it but would like to hear others on the subject...Steve's led is a consideration as well but the prices seem to be higher with Steve then with rapid led for from what I can tell is the same equipment... Any thoughts?

I don't know about those two in particular but I did a DIY LED retrofit on my old BC14 and it was well worth it. The heat reduction alone was worth it. Not to mention never having to replace bulbs, better color, better growth, ability to support anything you want in the tank.

Also here's my algae scrubber set up in chamber 2. I cut a 5 gallon bucket in half and set it up against the back glass to block the light from coming in the tank at night. I also culture phyto in the bucket using the reflected light from the algae scrubber.

@Bunnee911
Did replacing the rear lid on the canopy with egg crate make a noticeable difference for the heat? Did the rate of evaporation change?

Yes, the eggcrate and fan cooled nearly 10 degrees. It boosted the evaporation to about a gallon a day from a half cup.

I spray painted the eggcrate w Krylon and used black zip ties to hold the eggcrate in place. I had to cut out for my skimmer.

Not much to show with mine yet. This is the 8 gallon. I am using a par 38 and an acrylic top to help with evaporation and a nosey toddler lol. I threw some corals in from the other tank and they are doing well so far. Eventually I will put a fuge in the center chamber. I do a rather large wc every week so I don't plan on adding a skimmer for the time being.

The rock scape will be changing once my new rock finishes cooking.
