Bought used tank, need advice

Yes rodi no power head.

IMO those are too small.

Look for the WP 25. I have two in my 55g and they are too much.
Also the 25 are cheaper.

I'm sorry, but I'm new to this and don't know the lingo yet, but what's a WP 25?

^^^^ yup. Different sizes. And gal per hour ratings.

That's the RO/DI system I have. Just make sure when you receive it that you use the test strips that come with it to see if you have chloramines, if so you would need another stage.
Ok, so I'm going to pick up the Reef Oct - 200 with the new Sicce Psk- 1000 pump on Wednesday, if the guy doesn't fall through.

Now to the RODI, would this work for me? https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/4-stage-75gpd-plus-ro-di-system-bulk-reef-supply.html

This is what I got a year ago. I haven't had to replace any canisters yet and I fill 2 brutes, 20 gal each plus 2-3 5 gal jugs every week. It's gone up in price!!! Prob. due to the disasters.... I paid under 300. Same thing happened with generators. Ones we were looking at went from 450 to 900 overnight. So instead of a knock off, we spent the 999 on a honda. Almost criminal for people to do that.

I like those wave makers. 3 of them. 2 for the front pointing in and a bigger one in the back for flow behind the rock. I like how I can make 1 a master and 1 a slave. The large in back I run by itself. Get bigger as you can dial it for less flow if you need. I wish in the beginning I'd gotten the two in front to be larger. Making good progress so far.

btw, I'd spend more for the rodi and get one a step up. I looked at that one and my son in law who has a 300 gal tank/200 sump, convinced me to go the next step up. It was painful to spend almost a hundred bucks more, but water is your most important ingrediant in your tank. Poor water means worse algae than you'll prob. end up with <g>

Thanks. So I would do better off to buy 2 of these? Is Jebao a good brand? I was also looking at this one because it's a magnetic back.

Jebao is a cheaper brand and depending on who you ask they either work or suck. The majority of the feedback I see on them are positive I have used them on and off over the years and they have always worked for me. I have two pp8's in my tank now and they are great no complaints. Most people wonder about the longevity of them but if you only get a couple of years out them you got your monies worth at there price. Vortechs seem to be the hot pump right now and I have to say they are great in what they can do and the wetside dry side is way cool no cords in the tank !!However over the last year or so all I see is complaints on cracked magnets leaching metal into the tank and bad experiences with there customer service. At the price points of there pumps I dont feel I should be seeing that kind of feedback so I passed on the vortechs

TY. So if I get 3 of the Uniclifes, that totals out to 6300 gph is that enough?

Edit: The WP-25 is 3400 gph. That's a pretty significant difference over the Uni. I think this will be the way to go if 3 is enough.

Need some input on powerheads/wave makers. I have no idea what I need here. Something like this?

http://spectrapure.com/RO-RODI/RODI-SYSTEMS/Chloramine-Removal-90-GPD-RO-DI-System
This is the RODI I usually recommend. Gets you a 5-stage filter with 2 carbon blocks. Or you could swap out the extra carbon block for an extra DI stage. For poweheads your going to want to look at Jebao RW-15 or MP40 by Ecotech. Gyres are also very popular for wavemakers.

What's a Uni clef?

The thank is 48w?

Keep in mind bigger is not always better esp if you want to keep sand in the tank

The Uni is a brand of wave maker I found on amazon. Decent reviews, so I was thinking about using them. I'm going cross eyed doing research. The tank is 72" L x 18" W x 21" H

Man I was fixing to click buy on 3 WP25s, but checked back here and now I'm stuck. SMH
You can probably cancel or change your order. Unless you did not already click buy?

As far as RO/DI goes, BRS has a video on using two single resins and a third mixed resin. It will cost more to setup but it looks like it could save money down the road and give you better quality water. It’s the system I will upgrade to once my current batch of DI resin is gone.

I can get the link if that’s something you might be interested in.

That skimmer will do well, the pump is a good one.

That RODI is perfect, like I said before you can upgrade later. It also includes everything you need with it. Be sure to read and follow instruction on initial set up, you will need to run it for a while before is ready to make clean water. Be sure to use the test strips to test the waste water. The test strips check for chlorine and total chlorine that’s getting past your carbon blocks. If it is you will need another carbon block added to the system. This is easily done, just buy the 6 stage upgrade, adds a second carbon and DI stage.

Jebaos will work and many use them no problem. They are made cheap however. My recommendation for powerheads are: Vortechs, Tunze, Gyre in that order. You can save money and buy used. They are quality so used ones can still have many years of use left.

It’s better to have multiple powerheads than just one.

If I was you, 2 MP40s on each end of the tank would be ideal.
