Brad's ADA 60f Mangrove Tunnel

Focus is mostly on the mangroves and with starting off being a freshwater tank for the first 5-6 months, any stocking won't be really thought about until the summer. I do like the idea of a single small red star fish or fiddler crabs

Edit : seahorse? Would need to do my research first.

What about acclimating a school of mollies to the tank? They supposedly do ok in salt I've heard...

Think Takashi Amano

I've heard mangroves are magnesium sucks. In your experience with all the mangrove tanks you've done, do you agree? If so do you dose mag or just rely on your water changes?

Honestly never test my water. I have another tank which is mangroves, macros, and lps and I haven't done a water change in that tank in 8+ months. All is well in that tank.

That is cool! Does it have a skimmer?

I'm curious where this sits in your house? It looks like it's in a cup board or a closet?

I see you're a mangrove and a macro guy, cool. I wish more people included macro algae into their main display. I had a garden of Dragon's Breath with branching euphyllia coming out, looked awesome! Maybe, you could raise the salinity a bit and add some bush-like macro on either side of the banks to make it look like your picture you aimed for. And awesome job so far!

Any updates?

It is in a closet that I used to keep a 50gallon brute can in, back when I did water changes on my reef tank.

Any updates?

Eh, not really. Just growth. I did try putting 3 tetra's in but the AC20 quickly sucked them up :(

I will take some photos this weekend.

Any updates?

Actually I did miss posting an update here.

Do you have some sort of grass growing or are those roots from the mangrove?

Good eye! You're actually the first person to say something and I never mentioned it before. (some of it is the roots)

A while ago I put a trimming of Micro Sword from my planted FW tank into this tank to see how it would do, and it has really taken off in the last month or two. From some reading I have done they can tolerate some salt, so I am seeing how they react as I very slowly bring the salinty of this tank up to 1.025ish.

Thats awesome! So where's the salinity level now? and please keep us posted on the salt additions so we can see how the changes affect everything.
