That’s trendy here. A lot of the LFS do that in their displays around me. It does trap detritus though over time but it’s not to bad to remove, siphon, replace.

Moe, from his book 30 years ago, suggests the substrate should be 2-4mm particles and 2” thick for an undergravel filter. FWIW.

Friday afternoon, time to chill out.

Just added everything to my cart on BRS needed to drill for 1" bulkheads and run dual returns with Y loc line with 4 short lines and wide nozzles at the ends $125 gonna be awesome!

So I will still drill the tank today for the overflow but will have to wait 2-3 weeks to drill the return holes and plumb it all together. I will take lots of photos when this all happens.
I'm really getting excited to do this!!

Going to run 1" threaded/slip bulkheads through the tank; then screw a 1" - 3/4" thread/thread reducing bushing into that bulkhead to go to 3/4" threads; then screw in a 3/4" male npt loc line adapter for 3/4" loc line; then a Y on each side and going to split the 6 segment loc line into halves and run short 3 segment loc lines off of the Ys on each side for a total of 4 short loc lines all having the 3" wide nozzles at the ends.
I need to buy the drill bit for 1" bulkheads as well.

It's not like facebook... you get ONE notification that somebody has posted to each thread you've followed. Every post after that there is no notification. If you miss that one notification then you'll lose the thread until you view it again, at which point you'll receive one more notification the next time someone posts...

It's really dumb and antiquated. I feel like I'm using one of the first home computers every time I view the page. Ok, maybe it's more advanced than MS DOS...
