Three weeks out and the GHA is as bad as ever. Just did a second treatment. Not sure why it is not working for me, but seems with me and this hobby what works for others does not for me. And yes I am doing all the recommended things one does with a reef tank. Fingers crossed second dose works
Sorry to hear that!
You should send some to @twilliard to identify. There are many, many species of GHA and at least 50 species of bryopsis. I too have some root of something that isn't dying as well but all the bryopsis did including root.

I am by no means an expert but I would think there will be similar/some inactive ingredients in the capsule as well. Of course the tablet will have some additional to make it a tablet?

Yes the tablet will have binders. Someone posted a link somewhere in the thread to an ingredients list of the one of the tablets and there was nothing alarming in them.

19 days in. I did another dose today as I want to make sure the algae keeps dying off. I would estimate I've lost 50-75 percent of my Bryopsis the first round.

I think I got to that! Read about 30 pages and was past convinced at that point in time... Will have to see on the weekend if I can get the stuff easily and will track progress accordingly. Thanks for the input, much appreciated.

Maybe we should compare notes! I have had issues from almost day one and nothing seems to work too well for me either. Anyway, I will persevere...

Quick question when starting this treatment do you continue to dose nopox and reef energy A&B?
I dosed nopox but see no reason you can't or shouldn't dose reef energy. I dose coral colors without a problem although I dose next to none of it for greens ever. I already have plenty of iron :)( iron also helps to fuel algae.)

I'm sorry that you lost your seahorses. We will make a note of that for future tanks with them. Other than that,I'm glad the treatment took out your bryopsis.
I treated my 36g bow front (20/10 but used 400mg 4/100 mg caps) for gha. 2 weeks. No skimmer or carbon. I have 2 erectus that did just fine. Coral did great. I did however, lose 3 peppermint shrimp. One committed suicide (jumped). I also had a pipefish jump and die. 3 weeks later my gha is back. Going to dose again.

Didn't read all 170 pages. Has this been tried on dino's? Or, did/does anyone have dinos and see any changes?
It will not have the effect you want on Dino's. I had a massive outbreak of bryopsis. By day 14 my tank was completely bryopsis free. At almost the moment the bryopsis dies off entirely, the Dino's showed up. Without algea, the Dino's had all sorts of nutrients and we're out of control.

I employed a few things.
1. Manual removal. I used a syringe, a turkey baster, and a 3/8 inch hose as a vacuum to keep water loss to a minimum..

2. NO WATER CHANGES. Not until the Dino's are gone. Dino's love new water.

3. 3 days no light. I do not mean turn the lights off. I mean wrap your tank in something unpenetratable by light. Then turn off your lights. Including moonlights etc. Hammers, frogspawns, montis, acros, and softies did fine, as did NP stuff like sun corals and gorgonians.

4. 1.5 ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide per 10g every day for 5 days. Started on the day I began no light. Dosed directly into the sump return chamber. Please don't dose what I did. I took a risk and over dosed on purpose. It worked but I don't want to be responsible if your tank crashes.

5. Soak power heads/heaters/ any equipment in the display in peroxide and scrub them with a tooth brush. Rinse with di water before you put them back.

6. When the lights come back on, run on a reduced amount of time. I am going with 6 hours instead of 10 right now.

7. keep your chin up. All of that won't kill them completely. Stay on top of them and be vigilant.

Yep, I have the beginnings of dinos in my seahorse tank :(

I am also treating my Erectus seahorse tank ( 50 g) am 9 days in and both are fine.. but then again so is most of my algae :( I have some algae die off , but also have some bright green turf looking algae that I hoped would take a downward turn. But it seems uneffected so far.

I'm sorry to hear that!!!!! I had to take to some pretty extreme actions. I don't think I'd do any of what I did to a seahorse tank. Such pretty animals can you QT them and go nuclear on their tank?

I think I am just going to vacuum up what I can and with a small syringe spot treat for the dinos and see how that goes. There isn't much in there so maybe I can stop it before it gets bad

Thanks for the info. (I have no bad dinos:D ) I was just curious as I know they can show up after the treatments everyone is doing for bryopsis.

It took a little over a month for it to work, but it killed every bit of it. Only have bubble algae to get rid of now. I will get some pics tomorrow for you.
Did you do water changes, skim, or run carbon?
I ask because I'm at day 20 and I still have gha left. I started with a lot less gha than you did.
Thanks

Zero water changes
Took carbon offline prior to treatment

I did run my skimmer, as well as felt socks. As the algae was dying off, it would get caught on the teeth to my overflow box which almost caused the tank to overflow while i was away for work. Luckily the smart ato shut-off timer kicked in and prevented the disaster. After that i was using a toothbrush daily to help keep the overflow clear but the socks were being changed out every other day.

I wanted to see if the medication actually worked, or if it was one of those things that just makes us pay better / closer attention to our tanks so i just let it ride with no additional additives or maintenance. Like stated earlier, it took a little over a month to really see results, but mine was very bad to begin with.
