I use this brand for my skimmer. The vinegar bath will basically reset the break-in process. The plastic cover over the pump needs to be situated properly. The half circle holes should be opposite the pump output. One more thing you should check. The Venturi port that @Hemmdog circled needs to be checked. When I first used my skimmer, there was a blockage in the port and my skimmer was doing the same thing. You should not see bubbles that low in the skimmer. Make sure that the hole connected to the tubing is not blocked.
so we tried everything now and the bubbles are still that low..

Curious if you have Stress Coat or any additives in the water, have you dosed anything to bind ammonia or any other chemicals? Did you use a jug of ammonia to cycle the tank?

Remove the silicone tubing and look inside this piece I circled, make sure the hole is clear and there are no obstructions.

Yes. This is what I was referring to. Sometimes there is a blockage in that hole. I had plastic from the manufacturing covering the entire hole. Once I removed it, I still had to break in the skimmer but it was operating properly.

I’d contact whoever you got it from then, something is defective. You have the plate with the holes on the opposite side of where the pump blows water up right?

I bet you have something in your water. You could try putting it in a fresh bucket of salt water at the correct height and see if it over flows there.

Not sure? If the skimmer pasts the test in a bucket of fresh salt water you know your tank is contaminated with something and you could start doing water changes and running carbon. Your skimmer is acting like mine when I have run chemi clean. I run a curve 5 as well, I believe my skimmer sits in 7in of water btw. If you do find out your water is contaminated in some way I would recommend doing the water change via the skimmer. You can pull the tube you turn to adjust water level in skimmer out to allow more water to flow too

I will try it tomorrow with the bucket, thank you for the advice. But I couldn’t think of anything what could be in the water...

Something sprayed in the air, something on your hands, tank looks pretty new so maybe something off some new equipment.

Epoxied your rock work? I think ammo lock can make it foam, at least I have read some posts that indicate that.

How did the skimmer do?
I send Bubble Magus a message with pictures and he also said that something is in the water what the skimmer doesn't like and wants to pull out. we raised the skimmer to the highest point and empty the cup all the time. this morning it was at the setting "minimum" and the bubble didn't reach the cup anymore so we lowered it just now. it looks way better. Thanks everybody for your help :) I think it still needs a few more hours and then it will be good.

I have the Curve 7 it did the same thing for over a month maybe 7 or 8 weeks and now it's just fine, I used Carib Sea Life Rock and another member with a Curve did also and his skimmer did the same thing, don't give up hope.

its working perfectly now :) the customer support said right away that something is in the water. we used prime and ammo lock few weeks ago. maybe that was the problem.

You need to put a valve on the air intake to restrict the amount of air the skimmer sucks in. I, and many others, who bought the vertex Omega 130 skimmers had to do this and it works perfectly, immediately, and permanently. BRS sells a really nice small needle valve for this purpose.
