Bulkreef supply hacked credit cards compromised

Everyone – first of all, thank you for your patience. We can’t tell you how sorry we are about this. It has been a difficult period for our customers and everyone here at BRS. We know you are frustrated and encourage you to call our customer service team at 763-432-9691 if you have any questions or concerns.
I think all of us and people that don't know about this would love to get an email before we read this on the site. At the least this could be on your banner on the front of your page because right now it seems like your more concerned with your image than your customers. If I lose 1500-2000$ it's a huge hit please do more to get the word out then the little tiny link on your homepage and speed up whatever your doing. Emailing everyone that has made a purchase in that time period of the hack would be a very good idea instead of wasting precious time when peoples accounts could already be getting hacked or money stolen.

They sent out official letters in the mail. I received one today. Give them a break. Its happening to everyone online these days.

I was wondering why every month I was getting phone calls from MasterCard security enforming me that someone was trying to be airline tickets with my card it happened to me 3 times in a 2 month period and all I could do is narrow it down to a few businesses bulk reef supply was one of them but wasn't sure which business security was compromised and it's now nice to know thanks for posting this and I hope they get this issue resolved soon...

I didn't received any letter from them and looked like my american express card i used to make purchases with brs was used to make a $2500 purchase at sak fith ave store in florida 2 weeks ago. Thank god american express was good at resolving this.

I'm sorry I feel a little different having been through this. Also this isn't the first time there's been problems with this before as another poster has already stated. Hard to have empathy for them reading things like that. Also most other companies that have had this problem have also put it on big bold easy to find print on the front of there companies main webpages.

For the record I support brs always have but I do not agree with there method of distributing this potential problem for people's financials and personal information. Seriously with the age of the Internet to send something by mail and too wait two weeks to inform people there may have been a hack is borderline ridiculous. Get the word out is what I'm saying put it on your homepage send all customers emails that made purchases during that period. I would have way more compassion and understanding for them if they handled it in this fashion but the way there going about it is trying to cover it up unless you may have been envolved. Just doesn't seem right I'm sorry

Yeah dude I think you need to pump the brakes a little bit. Online fraud has been happening for years, this is nothing new. BRS is offering their customers a free service to help if they've been a victim of having their cards stolen. I don't think they're trying to sneak anything in this situation

And this is what I'm talking about the longer they wait the more problems people have and what if they don't include someone because they think they weren't affected. I'm glad your willing to give them a break because you got an email but what about people that didn't and may not. Best bet is alert everyone then weed through it. This is the problem

I understand. I'm personally taking steps to remove myself from all online vendors. From now on I'm only ordering things via mail or over the phone. I've already been a victim of ID theft and it sucks. I'm still dealing with getting my name cleared from a collection agency that Verizon hired (someone opened a fraudulent Verizon acct using my SS# and name. They used the acct for 1 month then never paid the bill. By time I found out about it I had a 1500 charge on my credit report and had to go to the police, call verizon a million times, and call 2 separate collection agencies. Its been 5 months now and I'm still dealing with this crap).

I'm not saying brs is bad. I'm not saying there not going to help everyone there legally obligated too or I'm sure they'd have even bigger problems. The fact is everyone that made a purchase should be alerted they could have been effected and I wasn't neither was they guy a few posts back who had 2500$ put on his card there's obviously a flaw in what there doing. So alert everyone and get the word out is the point.

If you use the Internet to purchase goods, or any other digital method, you must do so with the assumption that there is potential for things such as this, stolen info, to occur. I received my letter today. I will take them up on the free monitoring service. But I must say, saw it here first!

I do agree with you to a point. However I still expect to be notified as quickly as possible with all modern methods available to the vender. I don't consider a letter one of them.

Thank god police don't operate this way. If you went on vacation and your house was robbed would you want a letter to tell you in 3-5 days or would you want a phone call or an email? It's just not what I expect from a company of there caliber. This is a theft of your stuff. I hope you and everyone else has no problems at all but this hits close to home. For some of us. Especially since I've made two purchases in the time period and heard nothing about watching my credit even though they know most of my personnel info and could easily forge enough to get a credit card cell phone or any other number of things

Yea, I feel ya! You make a good point. Seems as though it may be a slower response then we deserve. Unfortunately, it has come to the point where retaining a credit protection program is almost necessary. This type of incident will become more commonplace.

Agreed

I was fortunate enough to speak with someone from bulk reef supply and I feel comforted in all the procedures they are using to safe guard there information from this point forward and also whatever they can to help anyone that may be effected by this. I still think there's a few things they could have done different but after speaking with a representative I understand why they are going about it the way they are. It's a buisness and they also have to protect themselves not only the customer. Hopefully however this will encourage more people to use PayPal and other safe avenues of making payments. I honestly hope that everyone's information remains safe and that there are no problems for anyone but stay vigilant and call brs if you have questions or need help

If you haven't been alerted from them but are concerned call them and find out if you may be involved and if you know anyone else that may have been effected please share this info

Deffinetely call and change whatever credit card number you used and also use there credit watching services
