I know shrimp and smaller fish are risky but other then that are they reef safe. The supermarket by me has captive breed groupers for very cheap.

That's good all the fish will be larger then the grouper. How much does a 7 inch grouper weigh?

Even if the fish are larger than the grouper it will still try to eat them. It's their nature, they grow very large very fast and in captivity ppl who do keep them give them their own huge tank

How much is a 6-8 inch grouper weigh? I am going to get the runt of the group.

Hope a 500 gallon tank is in your near future these fish grow very very large and very fast. They are a cool fish tho

It is a supermarket that sells fresh seafood.

Not trying to be a negative Nancy, I would want a 9 foot grouper too.... if I had a tank big enough and the assets at my disposal. The reason this fish won't reach 9 foot is because it will die long before that, sorry.

A friend of mine once bought a tiny Bumble Bee Grouper. "Lou" grew to be over two feet long. It died when it ate part of a powerhead...

If it gets to big I can eat it. That is what they are being sold for anyway.

Show me a picture of a 9ft grouper.

It says they get, on average, around 400 lbs, so I guess it depends how small they are now is the key. I've seen those tanks before, the grocery store by me wouldn't let me take it home live. I tried to buy a catfish from them one time
