Centre Pampideux

Filled it and I have a tone of leaks on the unions and other screwed connections. Not tight enough … should have checked before turning pumps on.
Working on it….

Looks great! Lots of well thought out and well done work. A+ stuff!!

What UV sterilizer is that and where did you get it? I've never seen one like that but I really like the look of that!

The stand came out great!!

Are there 2 holes in the upper corners of the front glass? What are they for?
when I drilled these holes as return hold that side of the tank was supposed to be the “back side”. After removing the old internal overflows it turned out that that side was bad coz of large calcium deposits. So I had to switch all holes and viewing side. Meant all 4 holes I drilled needed to move. Used the drilled Glas and silicon to,plug them. Not pretty but once it’s filled the contrast disappears.

It’s from TMC. I bought it used. New about $260.

I will need a break after this one. Made bout every mistake you can. …
Mostly , I should have 8nspected the tank for more calcium deposits before deciding to drill. Four extra holes is not beautiful.
I threw any known chemical and scrubbing process at the glass. The calcification wouldn’t budge. Well once it has water all views change and the focus becomes the interior.

Had two leaks left.
Bulkheads of external overflow and the hydros flow meter.

Bulkheads:
took the overflow off cleaned all surfaces, reinstalled and added a bead of silicon between bulkheads and glas.
Flow meter:
Took it off, cleaned it and waiting for advice….. not really want to buy a new one.
I must have ruined the threads by using thread paste with ptfe. Simply turned to easy onto the male threads and leaked like it had a needle hole on both sides.
The threads are BSPP thread the unions BSPP/Slip.

Any remedies for that problem?
Try again without paste or tape?

Fixed the last leaks. Teflon tape solved the problem with the flow meter.
Two pumps running at 100%. (Jabeo 6500 dct).
Not to happy with the UV sterilizer light. It’s finicky to get leak free, but I put in a new bulb so I don’t have to touch it for the next 10 months.
Enough unions to take it out and replace it eventually.
I will let it run for 24 hours.
If no leaks this part of the project is done and we can move it into its final place inside the house.
It runs very quiet and is easy to adjust.
I have not put in the in sump skimmer or the filter rolls on the rollermat.

All clear. No leaks. Emptied the system.
After sending pictures of the flowmeter with the problematic threads (which I probably killed by using thread paste), BRS is going to send me a replacement flowmeter.

Now waiting for the troops to help move the assembly.
Still on moving dollies. All on same house level.
We're going to try to roll the tank plus stand to its final place in the living room.
I have a couple of heavy duty aluminium ramps which should help with the door steps.

Moved Centre Pompideux to its new home today.
Emptied tank and sump.
We used two mover's dollies, strapped and blocked them to the stand. They are actually very tough, Already had them under the tank when i did a full water test.
Out garage, short corner to the entrance way, ramp into house. Its now resting and waiting to be pushed into its final position i'm done with some cable management is done. The dolly wheels found every nook and cranny between garage and house floor. Thick shipping box cartons laid out flat helped mitigate this problem.
only the main door jamb caused a little problem and we ended up lifting the contraption an inch.

I'm using lots off "wyze" plugs to control power until i can buy a Hydros system. I can program each outlet pretty easily and have access from anywhere via wifi.

See if you can make sense out of this :smiling-face-with-halo:
Using Wyze outdoor plugs to have some protection. They are very reliable and rugged. Using one on my patio for 5 years now. Never had a failure. (Knock on wood) Recovers after long period without power.

The cabinet doors are in a safe place for now until all is done.

My wife is going through acclimatization. I'm sure she will cycle though this quickly. The tank looks bigger in the living room than the garage.

On think did not work out. I planned a detail wrong for my skimmer. I never measured it's hight, so.... when it came to installation time I discovered that i needed an extra inch hight in the cabinet to be able to take the top skimmer bucket on and off.
Its a Somatic 120s, very tall and fat as a goose. Fits great in the sump outside of the cabinet. When I planned the cabinet I forgot that the the hight of the floor board reduces the head space.

So now, i have a brand new somatic 120s skimmer for sale
Could use a suggestion for what i could replace it with.
(Less than 18" hight, footprint less than 8" ) if it can deal with 100 gallons its probably enough since i will run a roller filter.

Started working on the aquascape.
Here is my assembled rubble.
Made a frame of 1/2 pvc pipe which will hopefully give me some guidance.
Planning to have a mixed reef. Max Hight be 75% with a 3 inch space going around on the bottom to be able to siphon the sand and access it from all sides.
Planning on a 4 to 5 inch sandbed, hence the markers on the side.
Its my first time i will actually glue things together. Watched a ton of BRS videos. Have some inspiration to keep it open but not quite as drastic as negative space aquascaping. Looked at a thousand examples, some are close but not quite what i want.
Need Inspiration ..... something i can buy??? :face-with-tears-of-joy::face-with-tears-of-joy::face-with-tears-of-joy:

As you can see, i have not gotten far. Its 104 F on my patio. Brain dried out.

Soon more ....

Leveled the tank today.
Was quite difficult because the floor has about 3/4 inch height difference on the 24” side and the same on the 48” side. Since the frame rests on 6 small foot posts I had to get some leverage lifting tank and stand with a lever from furniture moving tool set.
The cabinet frame is quite rigid. Caused a lot of adjustments.
I’m always amazed what I can find in my garage and I only have been living here for 3 years.
Here is the tank in its lasting position.
Next is loading the aqua scape and sand.
Having the “sand vs rock first” discussion with myself.
I want a 4 to 5 inch sand bed.
Starting with rock first would burry a lot of my aqua scape in the sand.

Any helpful suggestions?

Aquascape Done!
I decided not to take out the middle section and put in a small island with a cave.
What do you think?
vid and pic upload not working for me today .... will follow up

Done.
Any Constructive comments/idea
the biggest structure looks a little squared off for my taste, but you might need that for whatever coral you have planned?
Hard to guess without pics but it seems like a *lot* of vertical surfaces and fewer horizontal ones. Attaching frags, getting adequate lighting on ‘cliff faces’ could be a nightmare.

Thank you for your feedback. You’re right. Very many verticals.
I had focused more on the fish and holes and hiding places for them than on a coral placement.
I want to have a mixed reef with LPS and other softies. Mostly fish.
The square space is going to get some additional structures.
I keep trying to load more pictures but it fails for me.
What’s the best format. ?Mov doesn’t work for me

Unfortunately directly uploading the movie file doesn’t work. You have to upload the movies to YouTube and then link them here using this button to embed them in the post:

if you aren’t wanting to change up the vertical orientation, maybe you could drill holes into the rock walls so that you can attach plugs in horizontally? I’d still be concerned about lighting though.

Thank you for the video explanation. Uploaded it link below
The top horizontal plate is only secured by its own weight right now, so i can change things.
About the lighting...
Since I have been collecting bits and parts for this revival tank (and made plenty of mistakes along the way) I now own two Kessil AP700 and one Odyssea 48" T5 fixture with 4 bulbs, all of which were excellent deals. thinkign and reading about it it seems the Kessils woudl be overkill and the odyssea a short term solution because of its quality.
Just couldn't find an ATI Sunpower 48" dimmable fixture ata price i can afford.
So i should have enough light.
