knock knock... how are clowns & nems doing?
Sorry for the lack of updates. Some loser kicked in the window to my house Thursday night and stole my camera along with a bunch of other stuff including a lap top, my ipod, jewelry, generator.:cry: No joke. I'm still finding little pieces of glass on the computer desk. I'm getting an alarm installed this week. I assume it was some sort of crackhead as he only hit one room. No pictures until I can get a new camera sadly.
Guys I am getting things in order to kick off my clown/Nem tank!

New Pictures
Finally got a new camera. Still trying to figure out the settings but finally took some new pictures. I had 2 150 gallon tanks but took one down last weekend so there are a few new fish now.
Moved the frag tank over to the main tank and will eventually plumb everything together to make life more simple.
Tank is packed pretty full with frag racks and coral from the other tank until I get the 2 plumbed together

I have another snowcasso type pair in the frag tank. I was using the cup to collect some of the stray zoas we found in the move and they decided it made a nice home instead of the small anemone they were hosting..:wink:

I didn't get any more clowns. I had the other two in my frag tank. I initially tried to see if they would get along with the new arrivals but it didn't look like it was going to work out. I'm keeping a lot of the coral in the 150 gallon just moving primarily the zoa frags. I have found that as long as things are on the sand bed the anemones don't travel there and they are for the most part safe. I have a blueberry alien eye that is encrusted on a rock that can't be moved that one of the nems is touching but so far it has been holding it's own. As far as Clownfish count:
I still have 11 in the main display:
4 orange and white ocellaris 4 black and white 1 platinum 2 picassos
2 platinums in the sump lol
2 snowcasso types in the frag tank

ahhh... so you had the 2 Snowcasso-type at first before adding the other clownfishes? pretty cool that you decided to mix and match. maybe one day, I'll have access to different types of clownfishes. it would be awesome to have a few Snowflakes, Picasso's, Onyx, Black&White, and hybrids in another clownfish/anemone tank. can yah imagine?

Yes, I tend to rotate through tanks. Tank one down put one up. I originally got the 2 Snowcasso types from a group buy my local fish store did at a very good price. I can't call them officially snowcasso because I did not get them from Doni's reef. I'm not sure where my LFS got them. One of them sadly died but I had another ORA picasso (is what I was told but looks more like a snowcasso as she has colored up). I was able to pair the 2 up easily. I added the smaller one to the larger tank and they took to each other instantly. That's been my experience with trying to pair up clownfish. If there is not much nipping and fighting initially then it is likely going to work.
You can never have too many clowns if you have the room!

I love all my clowns, I have a team of blk/whts (5) who cruises the tank together all the time. I don't have a big wallet LOL. I'm just fortunate enough to be close to a clown breeder and got a smoking deal on all of my designer clowns!
. I love that my picasso and platinum have created a trio. It's like they really feel like they are high society and simply too good for the rest of the group.

you've got a mob! I had a group of 4-5 clowns that would chase away whoever gets too close to their area. I hope your mob are nicer than mine. I had to break mine up and say bye bye to a few of the members of the mob.

So far everyone is playing nicely. Having a larger tank helps. My tank length is 5 feet long so there is plenty of room for them to spread out and plenty of anemones.

Thanks! I know I need to post up more pictures. I got a little slowed down because someone stole my other camera and I was used to the settings so I'm trying to figure out the new one. I took down
the other 150 because I went crazy and had like 5 tanks up at once :hammer:! It was starting to get a little crazy!:confuse: I wanted to make life a little simpler and actually have time to enjoy the tanks and not spending time with all the maintenance. That was one of the reasons I transitioned this tank over to a clown/anemone tank instead of sps. Less dosing, Less stress and I love just sitting and watching the tank when the weather is so cold and rainy here. This weekend we worked on plumbing the 150 and put in a durso so it is so much quieter now too. Now we need to work on plumbing the frag tank so I will be down to one system and a 29 gallon biocube that I use as a quarantine tank!

Took some pictures today! :bigsmile:The tank is having a little bit of a cyano and algae problem.:squigglemouth: I had the vortechs off which the anemones loved and were well expanded but the negative effects were that I was having more detritus collect so decided to turn the vortechs back on first slow and now they are back on at full speed which of course made the anemones move. I did lose one of the clownfish last weekend :cry: Of course the most expensive fish, the platinum died. :cry:Not sure what the problem was. He was fine in the morning and laying on his side with labored breathing by the afternoon. All the other clowfish look fine though. The 2 platinums in the sump are content to just lounge in their little anemone.
I really love this Elegance coral I have had for a while :tongue: I got this from a fellow reefer Shaun and former LFS owner. He knows his corals and has a great taste. I had heard these could be sensitive but he assured me it would do well and it has. This is an Aussie one. I have been able to still keep a fair amount of corals. As the anemones really do not venture much into the sand bed and the maxi minis don't seem to move around much. The Tyree baby's breath favia fell into it the Elegance and stung half of it.:cry: That Elegance packs quite a punch. It also took out part of my german blue polyp digitata but I'm not giving it up!
Top down of the flower pot I got from Shaun too. He swore to me that it was a hardy one and it has done well and doubled in size. I will never doubt him again! The sea fan you see in the FTS is also from him and it is photosynthetic. Slow growing but also doing well!
For the most part everyone is getting along really well as there are still plenty of nems for everyone
Still loving this tank. Wednesday it is going to get a frag tank plumbed into it to simplify life even more. I would love to add a Starburst and/or a lemondrop anemone after seeing Marvin's thread at some point but I have to save up the money. There are a couple of people at my local forum now trying to start their own clown anemone tanks.

Thanks. I have not seen a nicer one in the stores. I traded a 15 gallon biocube set up for it and some of my other favorite corals including the flower pot and sea fan.
