Cody's 80

Imagine i'll stick with the 80 for a while, I really love this tank. The ghost over flow makes it that much sweeter. I did want a 120, but i'm really happy with this setup. If I do upgrade i'll probably go with a 6 foot tank.
Have a pic of the ghost overflow? About to set mine back up and have been thi king about one

Quick update, pic quality not great, but you get the idea! In case anyone didn't see or is interested, I moved this reef recently, here's the thread of the process.

Everything is looking great

Thanks! I fought a PO4/NO3 spike after I moved. I think my bacteria loss was greater than anticipated; did end up losing several of my stony corals. Everything seems to be thriving quite well at the moment, several colonies fully recovered.

wow looks great. sucks about your stony pieces. wait a month and get your tank back on track and you'll be able to add some more. your zoa collection and few colonies look great. my last tank move i lost everything and it was a 150 cube so i would say not a bad job moving.

Thanks! Yea it took a while, I never had a PO4 issue before, but once its there, it takes a while to get things back in order. Some of the SPS frags i thought were dead actually have come back to go figure. Definitely a learning experience!

Stunning tank. Amazingly well done! I skimmed through the posts but will go back and take a closer look. =)

In my opinion one if the nicest, most clean and thriving systems I've personally had the pleasure of checking out! Congrats and kudos on all the hard work!

ok few questions... where you get the light stand? i been looking for the same exact thing but could not find a source. do they attach to stand or go all the way to the floor? what are you dosing for the sps? alk/cal mag ?

The lights are suspended with 3/4 inch conduit. I'm using regular conduit braces to hold the conduit in place, they screw into the stand; they don't down until about 3 inches from the bottom of the stand/floor. Dosing Alk, Ca, MG with a bubble magus doser.

Haven't done an update in a while....

Swapped my CPR pellet reactor for a Phosban 150.

Swapped one of my Hydor wave makers for an Ice Cap

Swapped my old Jebao for an upgraded model, went from the 3000 to the 6000 model.

Livestock additions: Red sea star, McCoskers Wrasse, and a Diamond Goby who was hiding and I couldn't snag a pic of

Overall the tank is doing well, but ever since I moved the tank 4 hours to its new home, I've had a handful of PO4 spikes. My guess is the system just hasn't recovered it's losses from the move. I also made some adjustments that were both good and bad. I kept getting snails stuck in the intake of my return pump so i bought a guard insert, however this slowed my GPH turn over rate drastically. My socks took 3-4 days to get dirty, and while I thought my system was super clean, I later found out that my return pump was struggling which is why I replaced it with the upgraded model. With the new model I need to change my socks daily; will monitor nutrients to not strip the system.

I then treated the system with fluconazole to treat some stubborn bryopsis, terf, GHA who knows what. I made a stupid mistake of leaving my pellet reactor on while cutting back my skimmer. My pellet reactor also clumped, which is why I upgraded it, but running pellets essentially with no skimmer for 22 days did not end well. Many of my SPS colonies had major RTN, i did lose a few colonies in the process... live and learn.

More to come!

Looking good man. I lost my colony of Stylophora to key hole limpets. Apparently it was like candy to them.

Ironic, I had some limpets decide to much on my Tyree Brick Cyphastrea. Started noticing little white spots and the limpets chilling right by the coral at night... Think i'll steer clear of the little guys moving forward!

Yeah if I had a do over, I wouldn't have done the live rock. I think the pests outweighed the benefits. I am currently struggling with PO4 as well. Things are coming around.
