completely messed up my profilux 4e wifi

Thanks guys ill look into it.
Not too impressed so far with the ease of set up and use but hopefully once connected properly and I can see what it can do I might be more impressed

Ease of setup is great but reliability is much more important. Once you get past the frustrating parts of learning how to program the unit and you get it working the way you want it to, it will keep on working that way for years and years without anything going wrong or locking up. GHL is not the easiest system to setup but it is reliable and that is the number one thing you want in a controller.

I agree to a point i think they are both as important as each other its not so difficult to have both, the frustrating parts is the first thing a person sees and a lot of people will be put off with this.
when I get my Apex for my other tank my first comparison will be ease of set up and ease of use, I know how solid they both are so if I can spend 1-2 hours setting up an Apex or 10 hours plus and still not set up then there will only be one winner.

Ive set up 3 different emails using 3 different servers, ive set it up exactly how the instruction says yet it doesn't work on any of them, it doesn't even say why it doesn't work, you just sit and wait for a test mail to arrive, how long do you wait? 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, as ive waited more than 10 mins on all of them I can only presume they haven't worked. So what do I do now? there is no information from ghl about what to do, for the amount of money it costs it should have all the information available and if you follow instructions to the letter then I expect to work.

Try cycling power to the P4. It's what's worked for me when I've changed things in the email settings. The settings, for whatever reason, don't seam to take until power is cycled.

Thanks for the reply but what do you mean cycling power to the p4?
Apologies if its a dumb question

Unplug it for for 10 seconds or so, then plug it back in.

Make sure the email is setup before unplugging. Once it powers back on, test to see if the email works.
I tried it with a gmail account and got an email saying somebody from Germany had my password and was trying to log in but its been blocked, so I accepted the activity and allowed it, thinking my problems would be over I sent a test mail again and nothing at all.
I then did the same thing on a yahoo account, turned power off and off again and still nothing.

I don't use Gmail for my notifications, but I know there are a couple of settings in Gmail you have to change to get it to work. Here's a link with more info that may help:

I set up a dedicated Outlook account just for the P4, and that sometimes locks out. It flags the connections from Germany as suspicious. I setup a daily text notification from the P4. If I don't get that daily text then I know something is not working. Could be my email account locking out or a network issue on mine or GHLs end. I've only not gotten the text due to the email account locking out. That's happened two or three times. Looking at the post I linked I may switch over to my Gmail account using an App Password.

I love my GHL equipment, but not a fan of how they implement notifications. I don't like that it works off your email requiring your password, hence why I setup the dedicated account that I use for nothing else.

wow its getting better and better, not only can I not set up an email but gcc will not connect wirelessly again, nothing has changed since I went to bed.
I have lots of equipment using wifi connection and every single one set up in less than 5 minutes and have worked a treat so why is profilux so different?
Ghl have lost the sales of 2 profilux4 because of it, all it has done is cause frustration. I was going to run all 3 tanks on profilux but this has put me off ghl for life, So next 2 purchases will be Apex systems.
I hope i can get this sorted so i can see exactly what this system can do but so far ghl support has been lets just say lacking, im waiting to say something positive about this system but so far nothing positive has happened.

Wow, sorry you're going through all this trouble.

Out of curiosity, when you set up email through Gmail, did you go into the Gmail settings and allow for less secure apps?

Yeah I even got an alert about suspicious activity from Germany so I cleared all that to allow it and sent a test email again and nothing has come, ive tried 4 different servers and nothing.
My biggest gripe is the fact it doesn't tell you what the problem is.

That is very strange as getting the alert from Gmail tells me that your settings in Gmail are not set up to accept 3rd party apps. If they were, the alert email would not be generated to notify you and ask for permission.

I understand about it not explaining the problem and how frustrating that can be. However, the problem is that the email is a 3rd party email originating out of Germany and, as such, is not going to be allowed through US servers because it will be tagged as either suspicious or spam. Another out of curiosty question; have you checked your spam folder on any of the 4 accounts you have set up?

Yeah ive checked everything and nothing anywhere

@esther - Thanks for the Tag :)

Lets start with the Email issue:

Since I do have both GMAIL and Hotmail running Notifications. And once in a while get the suspicious email message and have to reset the password. This is more a feature of GMAIL and Hotmail seeing the activity coming from another gateway in the MYGHL cloud.

Can we get a screen shot of your GMAIL less secure app section on the account.

Now next lets talk about the disconnect.

Can you Ping the device at all?
When you saying your attempting to connect to it, are you attempting from your Desktop, a Phone, the GCC Desktop App?

Are you doing a static IP or DHCP setup of the Wifi?
Did you configure the HotSpot along with the connection to your home network?

Thanks everybody.
I would rather use Hotmail as I only set up gmail as my Hotmail didn't work so don't really want to use gmail. Ive set up a dedicated Hotmail address just for my p4 so would rather use that.
Regarding the gcc connection, everything was working, hotspot, network and cloud, I can ping and it comes back with no losses.
im trying to connect on my laptop, it was fine when I went to bed, got up this morning and it will not connect.

We understand the Frustration when it does not work :)

Do you need assistance on the Hotmail?

Pretty Simple to do have 2 of 4 of my controllers on Hotmail and the other 2 are on GMAIL :)

For Hotmail:
Mail Server: smtp.live.com
Port: 25
Name: Should be the display name on the account
email Address: Email Address of the Account
User Name: Should be the same as the email address on the account
Password: password on the Hotmail Account

Back to the Network Issue:
If you open up the Web Browser, can you HTTP to the IP Address:
Ex:
My one controller is 192.168.1.55 on the network
