The argument is that if people are willing to pay that, then that's their genuine value lol.And if people stop paying these insane prices, they'll start coming down to reasonable levels.
It's only worth what someone is willing to pay...

And the same about gold… search / demand makes its valueThe argument is that if people are willing to pay that, then that's their genuine value lol.
i think what i am going to do is make corals out of gold and put them in my tank because gold cant rustAnd the same about gold… search / demand makes its value

Um what?thought about it, however I ended up switching from Kalk to 2 part dosing. When I was using Kalk I had to supplement alk anyways because it couldn't keep my tank high enough. So figured, "why not go full 2 part."
Um what?
Yes it's manipulated by the suppliers, the same as corals. The only difference is that gold is manipulated by the amount they want to sell, coral suppliers do that plus they manipulate prices by adding a cool name to a good looking coralNot really. The Gold market is heavily manipulated.
The frags they sell are very tiny. Most reefers probably don’t mind spending $200 on a dime sized WWC mushroom since they grow quick. It’s much easier to maintain frags at a $200-300 price point than $500+. As long as someone is willing to buy those $200 frags, prices will stay the same.Still don't fully understand the bounce mushroom market. They're very easy to grow and propogate and more resillient than something like SPS or even Euphyllia (aussie golds are as expensive as bounce mushrooms, but at least in that case they take longer to grow, require more testing/dosing, and may die to BJD or other diseases/parasites). They're also not a closing window of wild-collected-only like Acanthophyllia or Scolymia. Bounces were/have come down, maybe it's just new reefers that have bought into them?
I'm in the same boat as you. I'm 33, two little kids running around, and a reef tank.I love coral as much as the next guy, but I cant fathom how someone is willing to spend hundreds on one frag. I mean, I guess maybe its because I'm 29 and starting a family, but my lord.
Youve clearly never seen "commemorative collections", limited edition releases or been a part of a US mint "drop".Yes it's manipulated by the suppliers, the same as corals. Silver is where its at. Still not close to its potentialI prefer silver or platinum myself

Better they buy coral than another set of cufflinks for just as much or ten times more...I love coral as much as the next guy, but I cant fathom how someone is willing to spend hundreds on one frag. I mean, I guess maybe its because I'm 29 and starting a family, but my lord.
