CORAL IS WORTH MORE THAN GOLD

Better they buy coral than another set of cufflinks for just as much or ten times more...

Think about it like this, the more people that buy them, the faster the price will go down and we can get our hands on them sooner
It doesnt work too well like that.

When theyre able to lower the price on jawbreakers and OG bounces to under $100 ill be a believer lol.
Theyve been fetching the same prices for years.

Youve clearly never seen "commemorative collections", limited edition releases or been a part of a US mint "drop". :)

Quite recently last year the mint released limited edition v75 stamped gold eagles for a few hundred over spot. ($2400 at the time)

They were reselling for $15k on ebay 2 days before they were even released lol.

I'm talking about Gold ( the metal) not Gold coins my friend!

But yeah collectors market is crazyyy

Silver is where its at. Still not close to its potential :)
Buy all you can before it takes off.

Same for cardano LOL.
Nice to see another crypto enthusiast :D ADA will buy me many corals ahahah

You know there is collectors bullion too lol.
Some people pay for the name.
Some pay more if its been in ASSAY.

Similar to buying a lineaged coral lol.

Same thing essentially.

The frags they sell are very tiny. Most reefers probably don’t mind spending $200 on a dime sized WWC mushroom since they grow quick. It’s much easier to maintain frags at a $200-300 price point than $500+. As long as someone is willing to buy those $200 frags, prices will stay the same.
I'm not seeing it for under $500 at a major online vendor.

I was more so referring to hobbyist prices. Some of those frags are pretty large too. It’s not too difficult to find a small piece with smaller bubbles for around $200-250

reeftide sold like 5 for under 100$ during their sale.

Yes I know it, but in general price per KG is in a stock exchange

You are just explaining niches after niches to give yourself reason and ending sentences with lol

No I'm comparing apples to apples.
You cant buy zooxanthellae on the stock exchange lol.

Coral pricing is structured just like any hot commodity.

Buy any cool comic books or basketball cards lately?

Look at the title of the thread talking about gold and OP said that coral surpasses its wheight in gold!

i just did the math and a bounce mushroom is worth its weight in gold lol

Not talking about gold coins, gold lineage, basketball cards or comic books but weight in gold.

Nontheless you are right it about it beeing very close as a hot comodity

Nahh dude in my country comic books and basketball aren't as hot as in the US, last market I tried of those was sneakers and coloborations with brands. IkeaXVirgil abloh made me a good penny

These kind of threads are interesting social experiments and fun to watch.
On one hand you have the folks that are outraged at prices of some corals when its been known for awhile now that yes some are worth more there weight in gold.
On the other hand you have those folks like myself that understand that and snatch them up to hopefully be able to at the very least help with reefing costs someday.
Its only disposable income if your flushing down the toilet or tossing them in the trash.
I'll buy corals all day that brings me initial return on investment. Why wouldn't I stock my tank with corals like that?
On edit now that I think about it.
Why would I stock my tanks with a bunch of corals that are someday going to outgrow my tank and ill likely have to toss in the trash or give away when I could sell and make money on them?

Youre right. He should also change the the title to SOME coral lol.

Yes i see where youre coming from.

My initial comment was comparing crazy cool rare and lineaged coral price markups to limited edition releases in which gold far exceeds coral .

Sure, spot gram for gram "Some corals are worth their weight in gold"
Definately a collectors mushroom would fit this bill :)

And if people stop paying these insane prices, they'll start coming down to reasonable levels.
It's only worth what someone is willing to pay...
same crazy as the house's price in nyc this 2 years! LOL

Tottally my point! I stock my tank with two critteria corals that I love and that can make a penny back

But at least in my country I've seen a strange outcome, if u get a coral that's pricy like an OG Bounce you will only sell it if it is for a great bargain.
I've imported a bounce Magic Sphere from germany wich I think it's the only in Portugal, It reproduced and I'm not able to sell it for 2 reasons: Some LFS say it's not that good (Wich is a local thing, only the **** you sell is good) and other people don't want to spend a penny unless its a bargain or a really hot coral in the moment.

But I see that my country is a ****** market because it's so small and we don't have a great Buyer Power...

I get it for sure. It was mentioned that reeftide just sold a bunch of og for $100. Im currently experimenting with taking foot laceration babies from my shrooms and so far so good. I think you need to figure out a great method of propagation and give the people what they want. If you have the supply and can lower price the demand im sure is already there. Id rather make 100 dollars 10 x a day as opposed to 1k once a month....

In coral speaking, 1k a month is better. Don't forget that the 10x you are selling most of them will do the same as you, fragging and selling.

I just let my shrooms repduce all alone

Same here im a big advocate for not cutting shrooms honestly. I learned my lesson from buying other people's "fragged" shrooms and lost 8 out of 10 in 1yr. I say show me the success of your fragged shrooms after 1yr in system. Shrooms are easily stressed and highly susceptible to pathogens..
You can however take a foot booger and grow it up into a healthy shroom. Its more natural that way and some shrooms only take a few months to grow into a 3/4" perfectly healthy shroom.
I'll still take $100 dollars a day even if its once a day all month as opposed to 1k but that's just me. And apparently reeftide and alot of other vendors.
Here's a few babies I took a few months ago. Started as a blob on piece of disc:D
