It has all what it needs and there's a option to upgrade for an extra Chloramine canister.

So what sets this unit apart from lets say this one BRS 6 Stage Universal Water Saver Plus RO/DI System - 150GPD - Bulk Reef Supply , what makes it worth the $450 price tag? I know very little about RODI units and what features make them worthwhile

I believe its the smart controller. It also comes with booster pump and some other sweet accessories/features. Its basically like buying that BRS RO/DI and then buying a booster pump and an apex jr for it. Please someone correct me if I am getting this wrong

Booster pumps and all the pressure switches and valves to control it are almost $200. This includes all that, plus an automatic membrane flush kit that is usually $60 option. Plus a system timer to help calculate the amount of water you have processed. I do prefer 2 carbon block and 2 DI resin. Although, from what I have been reading lately, you need to get down to .5 micron carbon blocks to break up the ammonia and chlorine bond to help process the chloramine. So I don't know if this solution would work for people with that in their water. I didn't see it listed as something it can remove.

The new IceCap RODI is like no other RO system on the market. Designed to be a fully automated, ultra efficient water filtration center capable of filtering 100+GPD and at least a 3 to 1 (waste to product) ratio. Its efficiency is made possible from the included booster pump and the Dow membrane. I have tested this unit myself with source water of 140TDS producing 2 to 1 ratio and up to 160-170gph production rate. Those with Chloramines in the source water would benefit from an extra prefilter canister and a chloramine buster carbon filter to protect the RO membrane.

Unique to the IceCap RODI unit is the controller which fully operates the system including the pressure switches, 3point TDS readouts with change filter notifications, timer and manual mode, manual strong flush, leak detection, On/Off function, as well as systems status status indicators. The super sturdy frame can be wall mounted or free standing and is spacious for easy maintenance of filters, switches and fittings.

The IceCap RODI will be available through CoralVue retailers at the end of this month. Keep the questions coming.

Wait till you see how fast it makes water. :smile:

You would install the single pre filter housing filter before the RODI unit. The PP sediment filter would go into the single filter, the standard carbon block in the first stage prefilter on the RO unit then the chloramine carbon filter in the second prefilter. When staged like this and replaced when needed should extend the life of the membrane when chloramines are present.

You beat me to the punch. I don't understand what is being "controlled". What does this unit do that a typical one doesn't besides have a better TDS meter and a notification to change filters?

It controls booster pump, the amount of water being created, auto flush, tds and other stuff I am assuming but it basically comes with all the bells and whistles you can add on to an ro di system, also helps creates less waste water being made

Also keeps track of your membranes and resin informing you when it's time to replace

The IceCap RODI Controller fully-automates and monitors the water production process including: automatic membrane flush (start; if feed water disconnects; after production; every 2 hours of water production), 3TDS monitoring(before filter, after membrane, after DI) with filter change alarm notifications, controls high and low pressure switches for manual mode operation, Timer mode (comes handy when replacing filters), power save mode, full on and off function (press a button instead of pulling a powercord), force strong flush, Leak detection with audible alarm(the alarm will even go off if the IceCap RODI is powered down).
