I have had two Orbit Marine IC LED's on my 120 since Feb and they are fantastic! The tank looks different now, more corals and good growth-this is an early pic- and all of my LPS, Zoas, Ritteri nem, bubble corals, monti's are doing very well.

They are good for softies from my experience. I have an 18 inch orbit marine (not pro) over my 5 gallon and everything is growing and opening nicely. The controllability is also great!

I have a 40 gallon bow front and my tank is 24 inches deep - I have a Rbta and a bubble coral and I use one orbit marine loop ic - I haven't had any issues and it's been six months - but remember I'm still new to this hobby - so guess it's working? How would know if it wasn't I guess?

I guess it would be hard to tell in your case, I knew mine was working better because I switched from a cheaper amazon light. If you have growth and they have good colors that's a good sign. Especially over 6 months and nothing has gone wrong you should be in good shape.

I just reached out to current USA to ask then about returns and refunds because everyone is correct it doesn't meet the par requirements for most corals which is sad because their claim or marketing strategy doesn't really notify customers if its limitations which I feel is unfair marketing practices

Not yet I called but no answer just a vm. So I sent an email. I will post what they say. I feel like if I would've known it doesn't meet the par requirements for most corals I would have purchased a different unit because I will be expanding my tank to a 120 within a year

Not the IC, it's the first gen of the orbit marine. Just blue and whites. Keep the blue at 100% and whites at 50%. Most of the frags are pieces I broke off colonies in the 75 reef tank. I was surprised that there doing as well as they are. Montipora hodgesoni, spongodes, birdsnest, no problem.

If you haven't had any issues in 6 months then why the email, I'm confused? The light is fine for growing corals. Don't get to caught up in numbers. Just because someone says you need 300 par but your coral looks and is growing good it doesn't matter. That's like saying your ph needs to be at 8.2 and yours reads 7.9 but the tank looks amazing. Don't chase numbers and don't change lights if your tank is doing fine. Not trying to be confrontational by any means. All tanks I've seen with the IC lights are pretty remarkable, even my LFS which also uses radions

I have used these lights on a 75g system, along with 4 of their power heads and their DC return pump. Easy to use - one controller for everything. I had no issues with soft coral, LPS and lower demand SPS, such as deep water acros and montipora.

It wasn't really adequate for most SPS though.

The features are interesting, though I can't say I used most of them - they were a novelty that wore off for me.

I have a 220g that was fish-only for the first little while, and I used their 4ft strip to light the tank until one of my other tanks was broken down (since I was migrating the lights over). The tank is 6ft wide and 2.5 inches deep. It was surprisingly enough light for the fish - though had I only had a FOWLR tank long term, I would have purchased a longer strip or added an additional one.

So I guess it really depends on what type of corals you have/are hoping to have.... it was definitely a decent set for the price.

So I've had the Current USA Orbit on my 55g since March of this year and my corals have never looked better, really nice growth of LPS and softies. Really good polyp extension. I have hammer, goniopora, acan, duncan, brain, zoa, Kenya tree, shrooms, blasto.
I replaced my T5 with this light. Better results on all of my corals. I recently added a carpet anemone and added my T5 back on. Now much tank is really shining. The T5/LED combo is truly sick.

Our point here is that if you run only Orbit marine light only then sure you will have issues, you are having a support lighting system from Aquatic Life Reef Edge.
Yes, Orbit Marine might work for some folks if they have shallow tank within certain water deep and certain low light corals.TBH standard old school T5 still beat the Orbit Marine in PAR without the fancy controller that Orbit offering.

T5s have better output/par (and offer far better even coverage) than most LED, so I'm not understanding this comment...??? Really, the only reason LEDs are nice is that they are more customizable and bring out richer/more saturated looking colours.

I still swear by T5s. I supplement them with LED to get the colour pop, but I find it a far more reliable light source....

I wouldn't say that their email is inaccurate. If you look at their website, I'd say they are fairly open and honest about everything.

Was it the company that you feel was misleading, or was it perhaps the LFS that wasn't accurately describing the light's capabilities??

yes I would say you are correct - what I am say are the company's that sell the product do not disclose this information so it's not really "their" fault however it's just having full disclosure regarding limitations and feature that should be disclosured. In most cases this should be disclosed. It's my opinion that company no longer disclose information because they are more concerned about gross profits

I understand - I think this is the most frustrating part of reefing I have found - everyone and every website had a different opinion one says orbits don't meet the par requirements for most corals, others say they work fine. I do not believe I killing animals or fish due lack of knowledge or misinformation - does that make sense. Therefore I am trying to have the best I can without issues. However over the course of six months I can't tell you how much wrong information has been given as well as valuable information. This hobby is very gray because everyone has a different opinion
