I'm useing 1x3 but 1x2 works perfect for the top I'm guessing 4-5 for you my other top for my 55

Here is the canopy frame i made for my 29g i used 1x2 and drilled then screwed so i didnt split the wood. This will be the basic idea for my 93g canopy build.

Im also thinking about running a dedicated power just for the canopy to house the light controller and the wave contollers so i can keep more room in the stand for dosing pumps and what not.

Ya I made mine so my mh slide right over the raised middle in the canopy held it the right height but for my ecotech I rig something up. Just need to get my return so I can buy 3 along with my skimmer.

I also built the stand for my 93 cube. For the inside of the base I went to Home Depot and pick up some shower pan liner. Used a little spray glue and new the stand can hold major spills. I went with 2 Tunze 6095's and have some great flow.

I also thought about doing a shower pan liner... but i decided to seal the seams and then used a latex paint to seal the whole thing. It turned out good and will hold water about 3 1/2 " in the whole bottom of stand.

That was my original idea, but my local Lowes had a Olympic rep there that day and he said if the outdoor paint didn't cure properly for the UV of the sun it would not be waterproof.

I haven't worked on it sense I finished the painting maybe this weekend
