Sorry i haven't updated for awile. I have a million things going on. Im trying to sale my small car collection off. Im planing to move 3.5 hours away. I also have another kid on the way " find out the sex feb 5th :) " so ive got alot going on haha... but maybe tomorrow i will start on the canopy frame work. Im going to use 1x2 with triple plated deck screws like what i used for the stand frame. And yes im going to gorilla glue it as well.

Picture of the top where the tank will sit. I still need to router out the hole for the over flow and return. Im sure i will to that tomorrow once the OSI sets up. But im sealing all the joins inside the stand for when i paint the epoxy on it will seal up nicely. Once i skin it i will seal that seam and paint it as well. Only the out side will be finished and i want to use a marine grade stain and sealer.

Drain and return hole cut into stand. Made it over size so i had plenty of room to mess with the bulk heads and plumbing.

Thanks... yeah im not in a rush and i have to say im loving this build more then the others. Im doing alot DYI on this one... its really my dream tank so i want it to last a long time because i dont plan on upgrading again. :)

I have finished the seams in the stand. After doing the inside i had enough left to hit the seam and screw heads on the out side of the frame. Once i get the 2-3 coats of epoxy on it it will have a nice smooth finished look. I dont know if i wanna go with light grey or battleship grey for the epoxy.

Another trip to Menards :) so i switched my idea from garage floor epoxy because it wouldnt work in this application. So i got Dutch Boy's Dura Weather Maxbond its the best outdoor paint they have. Its a NO prep NO prime acrylic latex paint. I got it in ultra white to give it a clean sterile look.

Finished 1st coat of paint on the frame of the stand. Later tonight i will but the 2nd coat on so look to the update later tonight. Till then enjoy these progress pictures.

2nd coat is on. I will take a picture tomorrow. I may end up taking steel wool to it before the final coat to smooth it out a bit.

Sorry not really any updates because ive most of the day been working on one of my classic cars :) i might do the 3rd coat here in a few or i will definitely get that done tomorrow.

Scott @ the alternative reef is hooking me up with a sweet aqua scape! I might just have to wait to reveal it till later... what does everyone thing? :cool:
