I have heard the marineland led's arent all too reliable, have you gotten them yet? I heard PAR output for they're "reef" systems dont put out nearly enough light to sustain hard corals.

It is hand made from ceramic so it is very porous and becomes LR. This one is colored to look good but you can also get them in the standard white. He has has afew different ones already made. So of interested let me know i can PM his info.

Thanks. Think that will be covered in SPS and LPS
and i want two rocks in the front corners one will most likely be a zoa colony the other rock white Xenia.

Honestly they could have used a brighter LED. They used 1w leds. Because of that im running two of them on my 29g fowlr because of the coverage. So this set up im going to DIY the LED to maximize coverage cost and be able to control everything. To start im thinking 24-10k white and 24- blue. Haven't desided the blue color temp yet. Maybe even a mix. Then down the road i might add warm whites and UVs to help the corals grow.

I went with the rapidled route, great results! have them dimmed down to running at 40% and its plenty for my 55gal 28in deep. I just knew the marineland leds probably couldnt handle sps since theyre 1wat each, The rapid led cree 3w leds are some bright lil buggers though! 36 was plenty, i only run 24 of them or else id be burnin out frags like crazy.

ok i just cought up on your build. and i see we are at the same progress point now. i want to say 5 things congrats on the girl i feel your pain with 2 of them! haveing a 3rd no thank you. lol the stand look solid. you putting doors on it or open stand? also aqua scapeing i say island but make it come to the top of the water high in the middle think that would look cool. also what sand are you useing im going bb.

Thanks... yeah with 3 girls, in about 11-13 years im gonna have to buy a cabin to escape to for a wile lol yes the stand is solid and i plan on doing a full skin with doors. I only painted the frame to seal it from water spills, splashing, and moisture. Should last a life time when im done. Im also going to make a matching canopy. As far as aqua scaping im going with a custom island made by The Alternative Reef i posted a picture of it. It was a prototype so im the first ever to have that one

Oh ok cool how much rock is it going to be total. And look into bare bottom tank trust me. It's worth the time

I think once its done i should have 50-60 lbs of rock of which maybe 25-30 lbs will be live rock to seed the dry rock and probably about 20lbs in the refuge.
