2 more glued up only 2 more to go then the bracing I still need to figure out. I'm not sure if I wanna do 1 inch or laminate 1/2 or 3/8 together to give me lips for screens or covers. I mean I could just use a router to cut the lip in but I have bad luck with routers.

Im just praying this thing stays together. I did some glue testing with some pieces I had from cut offs. some held and others came apart. My shop doesn't have the best heat and it sits around 55ish which is on the lower end of the temp for the adhesive.

last ones glued up woooo. Now I need to figure out the bracing. Does anyone know if there is a formula or something to figure out what it needs to be like 6 or 8 inch strap or the trim around the tank Oris it just preference?

You're moving along now!

I would say 4" would be plenty, but, I am no acrylic expert.

I would say that you should google "Eurobracing Acrylic DIY"

You will probably get a much better answer than what I could give.

:)

Yeah I was researching a bit awhile back but I'll have to look at it again.

I will see what I can dig up.

I also have someone I can contact and ask. He builds big acrylic stuff.

There used to be a guy at the other big reef forum that was an a lyric fibber that handled those kinds of questions. I think he went by JohnL over there. I'm not sure if he is on R2R. This is pretty important, I would definitely consult someone with fab experience!

That's what I'm hoping to do hopefully someone here has some insight.

The answer I got back is that if you are using 3/4 for the Euro brace 3-4" would be fine with cross bracing every 24". 6" with no bracing.

Also, you should do some form of bracing in the back corner of the L. That is the weak spot at the top.

I was told to say that there is no liability assumed in the advice given.

(I can't believe that has to be said). Sorry.

That's what I was thinking around there and that back corner I was going to beef up a bit use a wider piece probably. I have some 1" left over from the messed up pieces I was gonna use that but it's only a 4ftx3ft piece. So I'm trying to use it sparingly. If I had to order more that would just be another hold up.

No more hold ups! I need to see water in this thing! LOL!
