I just scratched the BALLS out of my tank with my magfloat and I am super angry about it! I don't know how I even did it! I'm always super careful with it, and as you can see I never go near the sand or the silicone. I have had this thing for at least 8 years and I'm ready for an upgrade. What do you guys suggest?

That STINKS, have you tried taking a scrub pad and seeing if it scuffed the tank instead of scratching it. I had a long line across the front of my tank that I thought was a scratch from my mag float and it ended up being a scuff that I got out with some tank scrub pad and elbow grease.

I'm assuming the tank is acrylic?

You assume wrong lol. It is glass and apparently very lame glass because even my cat has scratched once it trying to catch my fish.

I did immediately after. It cleaned it up a little, but as you can see it is still very noticeable.

I no longer leave my float cleaner (I have a Hammerhead) in the tank and clean it with running water and a small brush after each use. I also replace the felt and velcro pads 3-4 times a year. You don't want stuff collecting in between the magnet and the glass. You usually won't see it until it is too late. You can get replacement pads from your LFS or many on-line vendors.

Well after watching videos I either want the flipper or the tunze, but I can't decide lol. It seems the Tunze is a plastic scraper, which seems safer, but could probably wear out easier or get dents that could also scratch the glass. And the flipper is metal which kind of scares me because I feel like that could scratch even easier. How often do you replace these?

The Tunze has a very thing metal blade with it also. Be careful the darn magnets are extremely strong and will slam together and crack the plastic. But you can get replacements from Amazon. I swear by this over all others. For glass or acrylic tanks.

Also, if you take a few seconds each day and run your magnet cleaner, you won't ever need a scraper. I started doing that a couple of years ago and it makes life so much easier to clean a little dusting of algae daily, than to drag out a scraper or razor blade.

My tank is 1/4" so that means it falls under the nano version, which only has plastic. The other 2 sizes have the metal and plastic blades. I guess i would like to have the option to use metal if needed. The medium size is for 3/8-1/2" I believe. Think that one would be overkill (I usually like overkill) or should I go with the nano?

I wouldn't go with the Nano one. I use the biggest one on my little Nuvo 20g as well as my 120g and my 65g frag tank. Oh and on my 150g also. I always forget the big tank.

Perfect I'll go with the medium then. Lucky for me it's on sale at BRS and free shipping:)
Thank you
