Deep Blue 57 EDGE advice!!

I plan on doing an all SPS build. Since you're having trouble seeing the gear that I got so far for my build in my signature, here's my list for reference...

Deep Blue 57 Edge non reef ready
Modular Marine 12" ghost overflow
Kessil AP700 w/ A series arms
Eshopps R-200 sump / fuge
Lifereef SVS2-24 skimmer
Tunze DC 1073.05 return pump
2 Tunze 6095 powerheads
Tunze 3155 ATO
Santa Monica Rain2 algae turf scrubber
Aquamaxx FR-S media reactor
GEO's Reef 612 calcium reactor
Custom DIY Matheson dual stage CO2 regulator

All of this will be controlled by my Apex Classic

A lot of the "premium" gear has been purchased on the secondary market or recycled from my previous build. I've just been very patient in looking for really good deals as I want to take my time and not rush this build.

Do you have a pic of the overflow?

This is the overflow box that I got. The craftsmanship is excellent. Originally I bought a Synergy Reef Shadow, but unfortunately, at 16", it was too wide to fit my AP700 arms. I must say the the acrylic Modular Marine feels much more sturdy than the ABS molded Synergy.

I upgraded from three 3/4" uniseals on the bottom of the exterior box to three 1" bulkheads. Admittedly, that leaves space for the plumbing inside of the exterior of the box very tight.

I haven't drilled my tank yet so the protective adhesive paper is still on the overflow box

Acrylic lids come standard on both the internal and external box.

I will have it set up so that the going from left to right will be the main siphon, secondary drain and emergency drain. The emergency drain will drain into the skimmer section of the R-200. Because of the cramped quarters, the main siphon will just have a flat strainer.

Here is the external box with the plumbing. I still have to drill the vent hole in the secondary drain elbow.
Exterior Box

The friction fit removable exterior box for cleaning and maintenance is a nice touch.

I'm a big fan of the low profile interior box. Originally, I was going to go with the Red Sea Reefer 250, but hated that big central overflow box too. This allows me to customize it exactly to my specs, have a beananimal drain and gain some valuable DIY skills with drilling the tank and building my own stand.
