Deep Blue 57 EDGE advice!!

I'm 15 and my first ever DIY project (reef tank or not) was my sump. I just used an empty 10 gallon, scissors, silicone and a 50 gallon rubbermaid bin. I cut baffles using the rubbermaids plastic and siliconed them down. Since then I have obviously fixed it up and used plexiglass instead and pretty soon will be upgrading my 46 to a 20 gallon tall sump.
I will definitely post pictres so if you don't have a sump by then you can look at mine for inspiration and I would be more than happy to help explain in detail if you decide to go the DIY route :)

I appreciate that! I've done numerous sumps myself in the past but that was only siliconing in the glass baffles pieces. I want my next sump(and tank) to look as neat as possible and I'm not the neatest of people hahaha

I reccomend you use painters tape to keep the silicone lines clean and straight. I wouldn't do that when resealing an actual tank because I would be worried about it not bonding to the edges properly so my displays lines are a bit smudgy but fortunately you dont notice it since the bright things inside the tank catch your eye first

So I decided I'm gonna go with a premade sump.. I'm also gonna attempt to do a DIY stand with this tank as well.

Anyone have this sump??

No experience with that stand, but I'm planning on building a DIY stand as well. Gonna try to go with 3/4" Baltic birch ply with glue and pocket screws. I'm trying to go with a Red Sea 250 cabinet look with the full length double doors in the front. except I'll also put on a top and bottom edge trim so I can hide the plastic bottom trim of the tank. I've got it conceptualized, just gotta get off my butt and do it! :)

I've never built my own before so I'm kinda nervous about it lol a lot of ppl say it's pretty simple as long as you make it sturdy enough

I have the 57 edge and love it. Eshopps sumps and mp10s. 2 ai hydra 52s over it. Reef octo sss skimmer i forget which version but its the dc version. Very happy with everything minus the overflow its huge

Have any pics of your setup??

No sump pictures on my phone. I also have two gyres in there haha but everything is hidden on the back wall and on lowest settings

Also have some magnetic rock which you see. Ill take a picture of my sump later. I went for the non fuge version. I also just added a scrubber as well

Looks awesome!!! How long have you had the mp10s on there? I was gonna get 2 of them but people were saying the glass is too thick and the wet side decouples from the dry side sometimes.. have you ever experienced this issue?

2 years maybe? Yes they have come off but maybe 3x ever and only at full speed (i was trying to move some detrius)

The big overflow is why I bought the non reef ready version of the 57 Edge. I will be drilling it for a low profile 12" Modualer Marine ghost overflow plumbed for a beananimal drain.

The one of the left is 10 percent the right i think i just changed to 20. But i have the gyres on 20 foward and 10 reverse. At one point i was just running the two mp10s on the sides (i forget what setting) but it was more than enough for my sps to softies. I just like new things so i wanted to try the gyres

Not sure how to do that to be honest. I clicked on your name but can't seem to find your "signature"

I plan on doing an all SPS build. Since you're having trouble seeing the gear that I got so far for my build in my signature, here's my list for reference...

Deep Blue 57 Edge non reef ready
Modular Marine 12" ghost overflow
Kessil AP700 w/ A series arms
Eshopps R-200 sump / fuge
Lifereef SVS2-24 skimmer
Tunze DC 1073.05 return pump
2 Tunze 6095 powerheads
Tunze 3155 ATO
Santa Monica Rain2 algae turf scrubber
Aquamaxx FR-S media reactor
GEO's Reef 612 calcium reactor
Custom DIY Matheson dual stage CO2 regulator

All of this will be controlled by my Apex Classic

A lot of the "premium" gear has been purchased on the secondary market or recycled from my previous build. I've just been very patient in looking for really good deals as I want to take my time and not rush this build.
