Just giving my 2cts here:
I got the 600i for my tank when i started a year ago, i ran it for 2 months and then decided to swap it out for an ARKA Core. The difference in sound is HUGE. The deltec was the loudest thing in my system, now i barely hear anything when the cabinet is closed.

Another downside for the deltec: it needs a lot of cleaning to keep it running efficient.
The plates in the bottom that pass the water to the outlet tube get clogged easily with detritus. They require complete disassembly of the the skimmer to clean them.
Maybe you're missing some filtration before skimmer? Mine is dead silent and I see no noticeable detritus on/in it other than the crap in the cup.
Even when cleaning is needed, it is simply a few thump screws to take everything a part. Even the pipes are easily removed.

Totally agree here. I had a Nyos 160 and it was a PITA to clean and it would never restart on it's own. The Deltec is super simple to clean, adjust and run overall. The fans on my Kessil's are louder than anything on my tank and I would have to sit next to the skimmer to hear it. I have the older 1351 AC version of the Deltec and it's pretty quiet for an AC skimmer.

When i was running the skimmer my tank was still young, so maybe there was a bit more floating detritus than there is now. I also don't use filter socks or fleece, so that could have had something to do with it.
I do agree that the disassembly is quite easy and feels sturdy.

Mine had the aquabee pump, and that was "suspended" in a strange way in the skimmer body. It felt quite loose the way it was held up by the brackets, i believe that contributed most to the noise.

By the way, like stated above its only a personal experience and not factual for every deltec out there.
However, i do have a lot of experience in the hobby and have owned almost every skimmer ranging from Royal exclusivs to vertex, deltec, nyos, arka, bubble magus, ultra reef,... The arka i have now is the best value for money i have had.
Dead silent, skims great but not at the price tag of a RE skimmer.

Your Arka skimmer looks like a modified version of what we have in the states called Aquamaxx.
You are right! I am running an Arka Core ACS120, which looks identical in design to the Aquamaxx FC-120.
The only difference is the white parts vs black on the Arka. But even the pump is the same.
Good to know.;Pompus
