Dinos in my fragtank

Hi Guys
So lately I have been having an explosion of dinos in my fragtank. This fragtank is plumbed together with my display however the dinos are limited only to my fragtank and this is where I am confused. My display is clean with all the healthy corals. My No3 is under 3ppm and phosphate at 0.018, I have done some research and came across a thread where the author talks abt raising Nitrates and maintain them at 3ppm. Can someone shed some light over this. Also if I have dinos in my fragtank how come not in my display?

I went through a Dino scare a few months back in my 75g sps tank. The only thing I could think is your lighting and schedule the same as your display? They're favoring that tank for a reason.?? Water moment??

The light schedule runs parallel with my display and the flow is thru a small hydor koralia around 100 gph and from return. You are right for some reason they are favouring my fragtank. How did you concour?

I did lights out for 4 days, dosed H2O2 at 2ml/10g and no water changes for a month. Can you ID the exact type of Dino you have?

How can I ID them? They are small green strings with small air bubbles if that helps. I have covered up the tank with cardboard all around and lights will be off so this will avoid any light penetration. I am doing this for atleast 4 days.

Do you have white egg crate in the frag tank?

No it's clear acrylic. I use to have black acrylic but I saw it attracted hair algae so got rid of it.

Yea the white gets nasty fast. Personally I'd try ditching it and see if it helps.

Yeah but I don’t have white egg crate....its a clear transparent acrylic...not sure how getting rid of it will help because even the fragtank itself is made out of clear acrylic as well...

They're different materials and it's worth a shot.
Not to sound rude, but I've been watching Dino's for a few years here. New plastics and particulary egg crate is a constant ingredient in too many Dino cases imo.
Your case is actually a data point for me.

You don't have Dino's in the DT, same water no dino. Frag track coverd in it. I'd like to see pictures becuse I can likely confirm what's going on and if it's what I've seen before and verify my data. Right now its just a report.

Every time I set up a new frag tank it gets dinos at first, even when plumbed into my main system. I take the racks out and blast them off in a bucket until the coralline and algae starts to take over. Then snails keep the algae under control and the coralline takes hold.

Appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately I have covered my fragtank with cardboard last night to avoid any light penetration for the next 4 days to try and get rid of the issue however I have a video I took just yesterday in the morning of it where I talk abt it. I don't know how to add video here but I was able to pause that video at Various points and take screenshots hope to get some help. One thing I need to mention is the fragtank is located besides a window where we get evening sun coming through the window. Here are the pictures.

You also have a lot of cyano in there.
Cyano will grow on hair alge or anything else. In both cases it's oxygen being trapped.

My guess is , you have very little flow in that tank. So when the shared water from the DT comes in with all that nummy dissolved organics its settling in the frag tank

It rots and creates co2 spurring the Cyano. So basically you've created a microclimate in your frag tank of nutrients and co2. I'd drop in a powerhed or two under the rack and make sure that stuff goes back to the sump and it'll equalize its parameters to the DT.
It'll also make your corals grow faster.

Yes I have been battling cyano lately. So than we agree that I should add more flow to my fragtank and keep dosing Nopox as it is part of my maintenance to combat nutrients and do water changes as well?

No pox is carbon dosing. So it is bacteria food.
According to the articles , once the bio filter catches up cyano usually fades. So if your nutints are in check
I wouldn't dose. Carbon dosing is also nitrate reduction leaning fwiw.

But if the DT is good to go , I'd just as flow.

Thank you. Ime , the HD white eggcrate grows brown slime alge /diatoms really fast in a lot of systems till it settles in from cleaning and age.

I can vouch for this. Got rid of my white egg crate racks a while back. They were nasty.
