Dinos in my fragtank

No pox is carbon dosing. So it is bacteria food.
According to the articles , once the bio filter catches up cyano usually fades. So if your nutints are in check
I wouldn't dose. Carbon dosing is also nitrate reduction leaning fwiw.

But if the DT is good to go , I'd just as flow.

What is fwiw? Recently I stopped dosing Nopox a month ago and I saw some Nitrates in the tank hence I restarted dosing Nopox..

Agreed very fun

But after several years my eyes have gotten pretty well trained. There are characteristic growth patterns in Dino's and cyanos. Plus he's got red cyano mats forming.

I can vouch for this. Got rid of my white egg crate racks a while back. They were nasty.

Ok guys so just did my water change. I also modified the light settings on my AI Prime as I had green and Deep Red running at 60% for almost 6-7 hours. Brought them down to 20% leaving all the other channels unchanged. I will add an extra powerhead and see if this will help.

You also have a lot of cyano in there.
Cyano will grow on hair alge or anything else. In both cases it's oxygen being trapped.

My guess is , you have very little flow in that tank. So when the shared water from the DT comes in with all that nummy dissolved organics its settling in the frag tank

It rots and creates co2 spurring the Cyano. So basically you've created a microclimate in your frag tank of nutrients and co2. I'd drop in a powerhed or two under the rack and make sure that stuff goes back to the sump and it'll equalize its parameters to the DT.
It'll also make your corals grow faster.

Whoa missed this reply. This explains pretty much. I hot a small Corvallia and a Mj12 pump in there but seems like they aren't doing their job. Time to shop [emoji30]

Every time I set up a new frag tank it gets dinos at first, even when plumbed into my main system. I take the racks out and blast them off in a bucket until the coralline and algae starts to take over. Then snails keep the algae under control and the coralline takes hold.

I can vouch for this. Got rid of my white egg crate racks a while back. They were nasty.

It's also why the inside of your windshield gets a film on it.
And why I worry about wearing polyester. Besides that it makes me look fat.

@reeferfoxx. And why I'm not sold on the bottomed out nutrient theory. This is the other constant causality in new tank Dino's. The new tank.

To the people that say egg crate is bad, are you referring to when it's under light or in the system in general? I built a platform out of the white for my skimmer, but it's just a large sump with no lighting.

Just keep an eye on it and the tank.
I've seen it be just fine.

I don't think your crazy at all... I've seen it also with egg crate and even large PVC pipes.
