Do all clownfish become jerks?

My mocha female loves to bite, and already has list of kills: firefish, her male, and possibly my royal gramma.
Question - what breeds are your evil occys? Curious to see if certain breeds are in fact meaner or not.
Funny thing. I only have one pair of Maroons, and they are the least likely to attack me. And actually, the female, who is about 4 inches, has never attacked me, but the male has.

It’s very common. They become very territorial, especially when they’re getting ready to lay eggs. The funny thing is some of them are smart enough to learn where to bite in order to get the best reaction
I don't have clowns but I have read many times members posting their clowns go for the skin between their fingers which is very sensitive so you're spot on with your comment. LOL. Beneath the sweet appearance lies a demon. Haha.

All mine eventually become terrors once breeding. Before that, not too bad. In fact, it is my lemon damsel that is the jerk in my 210g. The clarkiis go hide in the nems, but the lemon damsel attacks. Always in the wrist area. Crazy fish.

Agree, once the mating behavior starts, mine become extremely territorial. Horny jerks…

You don’t realize how quick and precise they are when attacking. I can only imagine how scary it would be to take a swim and realize you are in the middle of a school of piranhas!

I only have a pair of oscellaris, and never had a problem with them. I have them for about 5 years. I wonder if it is because I have neither corals nor anemones, or because of the other fish in the tank, but they do not really pay much attention to any other inhabitants and ignore my hand. At night they sleep on the top right top corner of my aquarium. I am not sure I can call them a mated pair, as they do not spawn, unlike my chromis, so maybe their aggression remains minimal. One is quite bigger than the other though.

I had a false pec was friendly as could be for years and then after pairing up with a BTA would attack anything that came in the tank.

My big female black ice has never bothered me but her little male friend is a dick

When I worked at my LFS we had a pair that would do that! We also had a nasty little fella that was be waiting at the surface the second he saw your hand

What’s funny is that piranha (at least pygocentrus) are a bunch of cowards. My red belly would play dead during tank cleaning…now my clownfish. That’s another story.

I used to think it was weird in Nemo when Coral (the female) tried to attack the barracuda to defend the nest. Now owning a clown I’m surprised she didn’t kill the cuda in the movie…

I have a male black smoke- 13 months old and 23lbs already!
Pre cat, did you ever think, I can get an 8 foot custom tank, with 3/4 inch low iron glass, 3 closed loops, euro bracing and a custom stand, or …….. get the cat.

My clown will bite me sometimes. Strangely when I started putting on gloves suddenly she didn't care anymore.

my first and last cinnamon can grab skin through my surgical glove

but my ocellaris are gentle and relaxed

I have observed that skunks are sweeties
I will agree skunks are hams, I had them in the past and never attacked any human or tankmates

I have a mated pair and the female is brutal!! I have to shoo her away with an acrylic rod whenever my hand is in the tank. If my girlfriend is looking at the tank, she'll charge the glass and keep hitting it to make her go away. I'm her best friend when its dinner time though
Yeah sometimes I get ptsd when I need to stick my hands in

I'm surprised at how aggressive my gsm clowns are to me. I'd think they would give me a break because they recognize me bringing food and are super friendly ( as long as I just pour it in). But reach in the tank anywhere and they are like guided missiles on the attack.
Yep, that’s all my clowns!

Like biting knockes vs fingertip?
