Do reef central doesnt like reef2reef or something?

Here's the article. Keep in mind it didn't say April Fools in the title until the next day.

I like Rev hanging out in the comments. LOL!

I can't believe that got you a lifetime ban. I thought it was very funny. I'm assuming there is more to the story? Were you butting heads with RC before that?

I'm not sure which forum it was (I think it was RC) but some guy made a build thread as a joke. I don't remember all the specifics but it was basically this elaborate build for a 20 gallon tank and he photoshopped a school of yellow tangs as an update/livestock added post. I thought it was hilarious but reading the comments in this thread it sounds like it's easy to get banned there.

Over the years, I was told what I couldn't do any longer, and I always asked if I could do something else. I wasn't a rule breaker, but I had a huge following and was captain of my own ship so to speak. I did get in trouble for printing up 36 t-shirts to sell at a show like MAX or RAP using the RC logo, but I did it because it was funny. Eventually I simply outlived my place on that site. They even squashed any mention of Reefcast, our free podcast we did for three years. That was crazy.

Honestly, there's no upside for me to return to RC. As soon as anyone asks me a question, I'd point them to an article on my site or youtube and that would get me in trouble per their own rules.

I like RC at times, since u don't have to be all nice or worried about hurting people's feeling.

R2R u have to be nice all the time

So you like RC because you can go there to bully people.

Its just a hobbie, mate!

It been years that I have logged in though.

I'm a member of both and have never had a problem on RC. I primarily stick with R2R because I find the people more helpful and knowledgeable here.

Maybe we just like facts that can be explained in a non hostile way, crazy right! To think, we can't be bully keyboard warriors on a family friendly site. Lol.

I hate RC. The only reason why I even look on that site is because I'm friendly with a few members. The moderators are rude and try to control discussion way too much. I remember back when I started a thread about tangs in nano tanks. Holy shiitake :D lol!! Tang police and some butthead mod Brian D came down on me hard for not feeling as they do. It was a real discussion though coming from someone with many successful tanks and "TOTM" status's. Most people don't respond well to being controlled unnecessarily. This is my favorite site to visit.

Member of both... Think they both may one day have to combine powers to combat Facebook. Facebook may be great for making connections with other reefers but not so much for finding information about specific reef problems.

There are still some good livestock sellers over there in the forums, I am trying to convince to come over here. Other than that, it's an old forum with old mentality giving outdated suggestions with an outdated moderation philosophy. It's one of those dying forums stuck in the early 2000's that can't figure out a way to mold with today's social media standards.

It needs to be bought out, every single mod fired and relaunched with a new attitude. I have an account there to communicate with some coral sellers I remain faithful to and that's it.

Once they all saw the power of fluconazole, in a thread growing multi pages over there, all the XXXXXX.com address abbreviations were hilarious as page after page info from this unnamed site grew massive momentum over there and people were googling us to find the real info, then pasting just paragraph snippets over there as the workaround.

They clearly have some referenced post gold too, being such an old site. the second best dinoflagellate thread in history is in their chem site. I want to link a fine example of how information sharing works for those intent on trading science knowledge, you just post a link and the readers can go there if the site is legit, just like this below. When that occurs, readers start to see more petty in those who restricted the knowledge, and zero petty in those who can freely post things that help other aquarists.

They may be old and set in their ways but those guys also know what they are talking about and remember RC was the the biggest and best reefing forum for a very very long time. If it wasn’t for RC, r2r wouldn’t exist in its current state, most likely.
