Do reef central doesnt like reef2reef or something?

I just skimmed through some of the comments. Lol. Stop complaining about RC or whatever. Nonetheless it's a great site with plethora of info. There are some good people there too.
I do agree with some non friendly peeps out there who are rude, just ignore them. For me RC is to get info and R2R is like chilling hub.

There are rude people everywhere (when did you last shop in a store around Christmas?) or (as it seems now days any where, a store, on the road). I say treat them like a Tel-marketer..just say no and hang up and go on with what you were doing. I use to get upset and mad. But in caring for my Mother....which is hard and stressful...on the bad days...I try and remember. Life is like a road, you got smooth parts, parts that need repair and then the potholes. Just drive around those potholes and look for the smooth part. Just be glad the whole road isn't potholed (now for those washboard roads...just don't go there)

they never offended anyone agreed. allows fully open linking, an old sage I hope she holds on well. wonderful place. many big wigs congregated their for hardy gruel and procedure.

I left 25 yrs of my articles and guides and blogs back at RC and moved here recently.
Like someone said "RC doesn't like RC itself"

After being part of reef2reef there is no way to turn back ever again.

ReefCentral =FlameCentral.

Lots of arrogant "I'm right, you're WRONG" people there who wanna sternly debate & fight over the littlest thing.

Here at R2R I've rarely....super rarely have run across arrogant reefers. I love R2R.

Great advice given in a respectful kind manner.....plus Vendors spend more time here.....bc its friendlier

RC can fall into the Abyss as far as I'm concerned.....

I use both frequently, and I've seen a huge activity drop-off in the past 12 months or so over there. I think after their TOTM stopped being updated on the front page, people just stopped looking there and moved on. That's purely speculative of course.

I like reefcentral, there's some really smart people over there that I respect a great deal. I can see where it may feel a tad cliquey, but it's never really affected my experience. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Regardless, Reef2Reef is the future of our hobby, the staff do some great things to make this a great user experience for all.

I know this is an old post, but its funny i found this post and have to agree with what people are saying about RC. I have been with RC since 2006 and always tried not to comment or post on it as its always the same group of individuals who bully others with their ego trip. The rc site itself is very informative and useful, serves great purpose for the hobby, however these group of individuals ruin that purpose. Its usually same people posting and there is a reason why lol. I just joined this site not too long ago so hopefully people are lot more respectful here. Lol

I been on there form 02 03 somewhere around there. Ive seen a lot of power trips there. Even Beananimal the creator of the bean overflow get banned. Old 1995 forum style. They play gods with power. That's why most of the outer links are blocked.
Side note to this, you see powerhouse companies on there more than here.
Ecotech would have been all over the threads kissing booty on the thread about failed mp pumps. Replacing every ones pumps to save face. ;Blackeye
To add R2R is more like family. That's a very important stance to have. Take 10-15 years off this hobby. Darn near every thing had to be diy. It's because of the togetherness, companies are making better products just for our reefing needs. R2R is the bright future.

R2R and Reef Central are both great sources for inspiration and information; I imagine one site existed well before the other and the other would not exist if it was not for the first; all good!

Thats a shame.. it used to be better back when i first joined.

I started on RC in 2005. Senseless banning, power tripping mods, amd too cool for the room attitudes is why I rarely check in. When I do it is normally to look for a specific thread. Unfortunatly as more have made their way over here you see some of the same behavior. Fortunately Rev and the crew do an awesome job of keeping that behavior in check.

I'm on both(with the same nick), and like both for their own reasons.

Over here you get more up to date info, but you also get alot of anecdotal evidence just because of the sheer amount of people over here. It used to be like that over on RC. Over there you get years of aggregated knowledge you just don't have here, YET.

Over here you are bombarded with adds, and flashy things on all pages. Over there it is a straight forward forum with no clutter. Call me old, but I like the old style forum better.

Over there if your wrong, your being called out on it, and a lot of people don't like that so they see it as a hostile place. Over here if your wrong, everyone holds your hand and tells you its going to be all right.

Both have their places, but I have seen recently that RC is getting very very slow.

I used to be fairly active on RC, but switched over to R2R when I rebooted my big tank. Mostly because BRS was pumping the forum alot, and I thought, hey, why not?

The only real complaint I ever had with RC, was that for some deranged reason nobody could ever explain to me, they bleeped out the word "Tenecor", which was the manufacture of my aquarium. I guess they weren't a sponsor, so they didn't want you saying the name? But then they went out of business and you still couldn't use the stupid word. Made me nuts.

I do miss Ron Shimeck's articles though.

As an active contributor to both forums, I couldn’t agree more. As I’ve said before, I very much enjoy both forums. While ach has their strengths and weaknesses, I try to contribute positively to both.

I prefer discord over both these days tbh. Sponsor free communities just make me more comfortable. I’m mostly here for ppl like Humblefish.

FB groups are also nice for the local aspect.
