My house is divided! I’ve never named my fish, they’ve always been species name as their name. Example: Midas or snowflake or 6 line. What do you do?

As you can tell by this thread - many fellow reefers name there fish.

...I, on the other hand, am not a namer. ;Sorry

Same here. I usually use size and fish type to name my fish.

I don't name my fish but I made and exception with latest one. Aptasia is getting out of control so my last ditch effort was to get a Matted Filefish. He's been in the tank for over a week now and swims right by the aptasia and isn't interested at all. Pecked at an Acan which I moved to another tank but other than that hasn't bothered any other corals so he'll stay and Deadbeat will be his name.

A few in my house are named: mean fishy (jaguar cichlid); heffawump & woozle (puffers); wobsta (crayfish); Sun ce, Sun Quan , & sun jian (various tangs); and Shhit Eater (green spotted scat).

I only named one of those fish.

My wife likes to name the ones with the most personality. Not all get names but we've had George Clowny (clownfish), Buster (Chromis) Mr grumpy face (Starry Blenny) and John Lemon (yellow watchman goby)

I don't name my fish, however I set up an Evo in my office with a pair of clowns, and all the women were aghast that they don't have names. To appease the masses they ended up being called Han and Leia.

Hahaha I like those!

See, we are the opposite!
I don’t name them but my boyfriend was shocked! He keeps calling the new clown “fish 3675” to mock me lol

My fish names are just “The”, maybe a description, followed by the type of fish. The clown, The tang, The Fancy (Clown).

However, I do have names for names for most individuals in the CuC. For reference..

Mexican turbo snail #1: “Jerk” (always knocking frags over)

Mexican turbo snail #2: “Psycho”, “Music Man”, “Dangles” (always trying to commit suicide by the fans or make his way into the overflow, dangles awkwardly against the powerhead while his shell taps against the glass in an annoying melodious fashion)

Bristle star: Mr. Anderson (matrix reference: Always, I repeat always see him connected to 2 things at once, never one)

The rest are general reference terms when I see them. Those names would likely violate R2R’s language policy.
