Yes, there are two tail types, ones with yellow, ones without. They aren't different species, the color doesn't correlate to gender or maturity, and both can be found together in the wild.Are there any variations of blue gudgeons? My pair I have left have yellow outlined around the black on base of tail. I saw another pair at my LFS and they didn't have the yellow. @eatbreakfast

They are some of the worst as far as the female transitioning into a male.Still no sign of em and my eel has been eating.
I know the general rule with wrasses are no pairs due to them transitioning to males. My question is: What about the flame wrasse pairs we see offered?
