Dosing 3% Hydrogen Peroxide with Acropora in the system

Has anybody tried dosing 3% Hydrogen Peroxide in an Acropora tank?

I have some remnants of Dino’s still patiently waiting for me to mess up so they can blow up again. Sure would like to eliminate them.

I have dosed 10ml per day of 13% Peroxide in my 100g all Acropora tank with no ill effects. I was spot treating GHA. Mind you, I got it NOWHERE NEAR any Acro. That is some mean stuff at that percentage.

No, they were all fine. I have a small island of zoas on the bottom (bare bottom tank) and they closed up for a while. All pumps are off while doing this, btw. I used a syringe and spot treated each area of GHA (after pulling as much as possible by hand).

I've successfully rid my tank of dinos using beneficial bacteria while simultaneously dosing a bit of nitrates and phosphates while blacking out the tank but the last bout of dinos was nasty and was only beaten using UV and a blackout period. Nothing else would touch it. Not even the first week of fully covering the display with cardboard and covering the top of the canopy with towels. It came back a day later just as crazy and it was only when I blacked out the tank again and ran UV full time that I finally had it beat.

No fish disease, decreased algae on glass and in tank. I run it with carbon And UV. I have noticed no I’ll effects

Mine did.
3% HP at a rate of 1ml per 10g, took out the Dinos, but took out a lot of good bacteria as well. After using for 10 days, corals noticeably thinner and colour gone. Some of the slower growers like strawberry shortcake just went white.

It took about 3-4 months to recover.

I solved the Dino problem by just ensuring availability of nitrate and phosphate in trace quantity + 2 months no changes, they just disappeared over a week and have never returned going on 4 years.

should have anticipated that and stopped at the first bad sign.

Some people report great success, so IDK, maybe just coincidental.

I don’t know that I would dose H2O2 solely for Dino’s. But it has worked for me for velvet. I will probably stop it soon, but wanted to go 6 months. It has also helped stop some on the anemone disease and brown jelly I was having. (It Indiscriminately sterilizes the water)

Dang. Crazy how one reefer has good success and the next has negative effects.

I’ve used it on and off for a couple of years. I originally started dosing to get rid of dinos and it worked well for that. I used 1ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide for every 10gals of water. Moved up to dosing two times a day till the Dino’s were gone. There were no noticeable affects on my sps at all and alk and calcium consumption didn’t change. What I did notice however, is that my zoas, bubble tip anemones, and urchins had a negative reaction. Zoas close up for a little while, anemones inflate super big immediately after dosing and split more often, and my urchins would drop everything they were carrying. Aside from that, I can’t say that it caused them any actual harm but I did lose one older tuxedo urchin that wasn’t doing too well while dosing.

Nice article. How much did you spread out your dose.? Do you do all 50 mL at one time or break it up through out the day? Is it on a pump or manually dosed? Just trying to figure out what is too much at one time.

I just went through hydrogen dosing to treat ich.
my acros melted away overnight and fish died anyway.
mom now doing daily 10% WC to keep LPS alive. Safe to say I won’t be doing this again

I dosed daily 10ml of 12% peroxide in my 15g tank. I squirted it directly into nuisance algae. During the folowing days my candy cane looked a bit sad but recovered. My Echinopora lamellosa lost 50% of it's tissue and also 50% of my chaeto died during the next few days. All of the nuisance algae died though.
