Dream 112 rimless reef - Powerded Leds

Hi guys and gals. 1smile1

Well I am proud to announce I am upgrading my 95 to my new rimless 122. Dimensions are 36X30X24. Starfire front. Most of what I have learned has been from these boards. Therefore I am building this system from what I have seen here. I look forward to the ride and please chime in with comments and suggestions.

So here we go. I bought the tank from Will at AquaSD. It was kind of a nightmare but at no fault to Will and his crew.

You will have to bare with me. I am trying to figure out how to post picture in the message.

So the system will be mostly SPS. I am running 3 AI Sol Blue LEDS. I am also considering supplementing them with 4 36" T5s. More to come on that. Over the last 4 months I have been collecting many sought after frags and mini colonies. I have also collected some cool acans, chalices, montis, and zoes. My goal was to one see if I could grow them and two see what does well under LEDS.

My currant 95 is 30X24X24. Starfire on three sides. On the new build I couldn't justify the extra 300 for the sides :-( But.... The new tank is so sexy. The demensions are perfect, at least I think so.

Here is the tank without the plastic. I had it built with a very small overflow. I think this will come back to haunt me down the road with I try to build the standpipe. I also plan on painting the back and bottom exterior. Sky blue for the back and a sand color for the bottom. I am toying with the idea of a bare bottom tank.

Thoughts?

The tank looks great, congrats! I wouldn't go BB. It may work for some reefers, but it didn't work for me. I tried BB for 6 months, and my tank had all sorts of issues. Plus, it looked horrible. There is nothing nicer than a bright white sandbed in a reef.

Good luck with the build. I can't wait to see it up and running.

Hey Sunny. I agree. I will probably use the same sand bed you used. That was always the plan anyhow. I just can help but think the sand is a built in septic system

The corals I picked up from you are all doing well and growing.

I hope the babies are are doing well.

Time to get the strand framed. This build gave me a reason to buy a new table saw :bigsmile: Thanks honey.. The only thing that will be in the stand is the chiller. Everything else will be directly behind the tank in the closet.

More updates. I have the tank painted. Let me know what you think. Do you think the corrals will get lost in the light background? I think the darker corals, blues, reds, greens and browns will pop more with the light blue background.

Oh, sorry for the mess. We are still getting think unpacked and are still moving things in.

I picked up everything to build my light hanger. I wanted to build a motorized system but there just to complicated. Keep it simple!

The lights are 3 AI sol blue modules. I my run a SPS led strip in the middle to add some red. I may also supplement with T5s. Not sure on those yet.

More equipment for the build. Octopus 140 calcium reactor. Reeflo Snapper pump, and my fav is the MP40w ES. Yeah!. One for now but I hope to be able to add one more to run the oppiste of each other.

Nice new toys. I think your background will look nice as long as you keep it clean. Just know that algae is gonna show up really well on that light background. Nothing an algae scrapper cant haddle though.

I agree. I have always had that in mind. I got the idea from Sonnyx's tank. My wife said no to painting the wall so I had to paint the tank

Algae will show, so keep space so you can clean it with a blade.

Ok, it's been a busy week and I am trying to get the build thread caught up to were I am in the build. I am fast forwarding through until we are caught up. I have been working on this for a week now. Seems never ending. But I love this stuff!:bigsmile:

So this is the resting place for the tank. Up and on the stand and looking awesome.

I better shot of the color. Well?
