Dream 112 rimless reef - Powerded Leds

UPDATE... I built my first pillar. I think it turned out perfect. I used fiberglass rods to support it :-) Water is still a bit cloudy.

Ok so the new tank is up and running under my leds. This is my first attempt at a light hanger and my wife said no way I have to come up with a better way to hang them above my tank. I have one pillar done and two to go. My stand will be finished later. What do you think? :ooh:

Great build.I love it , very clean.I have question, what is that red LED strip, can you post a link to it? I am looking to supplement red to my LED's .Do you feel like it does a good job,or do you still looking to supplement with T5's.Thanks.

I am not sure if the red leds will do anything. I have seen lots of LED users add red to there arrays. I have also heard the the AIs don't have any red spectrum. So I thought I will give it a go. I am not sure if I will supplement with the t5s on this tank. I will know more once I start moving my SPS coral in.

Here is a link to the site were I bought the sps strip. When I was making the move to LEDs I was considering the maxspect leds and found this. I would love to hear from other LED user in regards to adding a red spectrum.

I know its been awhile since i did an update. Here is what I have done up to this point.

Calcium reactor is on0line now. I have WM eco pellets running in the reactor now. I also got my OCTO 2000 protien skimmer set up and running yesterday.

I move over my LPS and a couple frags. One of my big colonies of Acans seems to be STNing. Its killing me to watch that. Water params are perfect.

I also got my mew lighter hanger built. I think it does look much better.

First off, love those big acan colonies. Second, what is the red light bar?

Hi fellow reef nuts. Long time no update. So sorry. Been busy with work and the move. I took a really cool video on my i Phone the other night and wanted to share. I will fill in everyone on the progress of the 122 rimless asap. I am pretty much done with the setup. Enjoy for now.

I love the extreme minimal aquascape. Also curious about the red light bar.

Hey there. Thanks for the compliment. As for the red leds. They are no longer on the tank. I replaced them with a t5s with a blue plus and purple plus. The reason behind it is to ad some of the red spectrum that the AI leds lack. I have a lot of updating to do. I will working getting a day time video posted today.

Here is the Video I just did. My camera really picks up the blue in the light. The tanks is actual more of 12 - 14k color during the day. Hope you enjoy and sorry in advance for the bad video quality :)

I wanted to take a few minutes to update everyone on the mechanical side of the system.

Under the stand I have my 1/4 hp chiller, mp 40 controller and a 10 outlet power bar. Each plug has its own switch. I am also installing one in the sump room to make it easier to switch components on and off for maintenance and water changes.

I am running a Octopus protein skimmer, calcium reactor and bio-media reactor. In the media reactor I am running 1 cup of WM eco pellets. On the protein side of the sump I installed a 1/4 bulk head fitting on the floor of the sump. It connected to a gate valve, connected to a 1" line that runs through the wall on the left side of the sump and outside. I installed this to make water changes easy and to remove detritus. I love it. All I do is shut down the system, open the valve and is empties the left half of the sump. I then fill it back up with clean water and turn the system back on. I am able to run my ro/di in and out lines through this pipe as well. I also feed my air hungry skimmer with fresh outside air from this location. I will update pictures to illustrate how it all work.

I just set up a 10 gallon frag tank. I hated looking at all the frags in the DT so her you go :). It is lit by a 250 watt - 14k phoenix HQI.

To dos. I still need to skin my stand. Thats the last thing I will do. I also need to install the new 10 outlet switch and plumb a 50 gallon plastic barrel for more water capacity.
