Under the stand I have my 1/4 hp chiller[....].
[....]
To dos. I still need to skin my stand.[....]
), but since heat rises, putting the chiller under the stand is not a great idea. (Convenient and practical from a space standpoint, but not a very strategic way to get that heat away from the tank - which is the idea.) Any more space left in the closet since it's already going to be ventilated (still will need more ventilation)?
Sorry for bringing this up so late in the thread (I just got here), but since heat rises, putting the chiller under the stand is not a great idea. Curious that without the high power lights we all have (LED's instead), an open light fixture, open top tank and only one Vortech that you actually need a chiller. Is that from the heat of the Snapper, or have you tried running the tank without the chiller? Run a pretty high (>72ºF) ambient temperature in the house?
In any event, have a good plan for ventilating that cabinet. Another few hundred on duct blowers and fittings should be expected. If the chiller sees any major duty, you will need it.
Good luck!

The chiller is vented out of the cabinet. When I finally get the stand skinned there will be decorative vent/grating on that side. The chiller rarely runs. I ran maybe 10 times this last summer. My tank if anything getts to clod. It seems the heaters are always running to keep the tank at 76.5. I only have the chiller just in-case. Better safe then sorry
I used to have the chiller in the sump room. It gets way to hot in there if it runs.Nice color on those frags!
Killer Tank! AWESOME Aquascaping!
Nice tank. I noticed you received your WT frag of Tierra de Fuego the same day I did, on 1/25. It would be interesting to see how your frag does compared to mine under all LED's as well. The base of mine is a bit green.
Just read through your thread. Looks amazing. I just finished my 117g custom. May I ask why you went with 3. Ai's instead of two, how are your par readings? I ask because I have 2 over mine. What percentages are you running them at?
My settings currently are, 6 hours peek @ 60 - 65 - 85. Before and after are 30-40-50. Total of 12 hours. I am trying to slowly ramp the 6 hour peek to 100% Not sure if I will get there.
I went with three because two would not cover the way I have my rock laid out. The tank is 30" front to back so that was another consideration. I am getting plenty of par. I was getting way to much par at the top of my pillars so I switched the center 4 lenses to 70 degree optics and put the 40 degree on the outside corners. I removed the 3rd AI and replaced it with a radion. I thought I would try a radion because of the RBG spectrum. I have to tell you. I have two red planet frag down low that did nothing for 6 months, brown. When I added the radion I started to notice the base of each starting to green up. Now I am seeing red polyps on one of them. I cant say for sure if the radion is the reason or if the amino acids I started adding around the same time are the reason. If it wasn't so expensive I would replace the other 2 AIs with radionsMy settings currently are, 6 hours peek @ 60 - 65 - 85. Before and after are 30-40-50. Total of 12 hours. I am trying to slowly ramp the 6 hour peek to 100% Not sure if I will get there.
Very cool. Thanks for the info. My set up is 40/26/26. I'm going to add 3 magenta led exotica strips to help bring out the reds a little better. So far, I'm thrilled with my results. I got 2 Ai's and a controller for the price of one radion. And yes, new. I appreciate the setting info, I'm slowly acclimating the LEDs, and need a second opinion on % settings for over all look and color.

That's at all three 25% taken last Friday. I'm up to 35% now for 6 hours., at 9:30pm I only have blue at 2%. Kind of like moonlight. At 6:30am they go to 3% on white and blue only. Them 35% @3:30. After tomorrow I'm
Going to 40% on all three. Once I reach 60% on all three colors I was going to start playing with % for look and color. I've had 3 colors go white (but I'm leaving them in for awhile. I've had sps come back) . A couple are brown, the other 60+ are looking amazing. My clam is super happy. I can't wait to add the 3 exotica strips, ( I know they won't add par) I've got a red digi that looks orange right now.

I've had the clam for around 6 years. It's over 5-6" now. With a mantle of almost 2".
