Dusty's 14 gallon Biocube

Haven't caught my fish letting my cleaner clean very often but I got this tonight.

Then last night I caught this little jerk eating my acro. Hopefully I get off early tomorrow, I'm gonna pull the peppermint and my oversized chromis out.

I also added a few more to my CUC today. 2 of my 3 turbos died and since then I've gotten a little dusting of green algae. I'm also going to lessen the time my lights are on.

Well 2 of the 4 heads on my frogspawn decided they weren't happy after I moved it into a hole in my rock. Did a little research and found out its called polyp pop off and is caused by high nitrates. I also noticed after the first one popped off there was something on the second one passing it off. Did get a real good look at it but it looked almost like a small silverfish (like those little household bugs). We were on our way out and my daughter was showing my gfs friend the tank and then yelled "daddy another coral just died I saw it floating away." I went to investigate and saw both polyps in the back side of my tank just hanging out. I moved them more towards the middle of the tank on the sand and they've been there since. Hopefully they'll attack themselves to the rock. I also moved the remaining 2 heads back down to the sand as well and did a quick test strip test. My nitrates were in between 60-80. Luckily I had just gotten back from my LFS and had some fresh Rodi saltwater left over from setting up my 5 gallon FOWLR. Did a small water change, swapped out my filter floss and cleaned the filter between chamber 2 and 3 and everyone seems to be much happier. This was all on Saturday. Sunday was 5 weeks with ich. I'm not going to jinx myself again about that so I'll just say I'm still treating lol.

Lol you're like me man with the multiple tanks. I had to stop myself from making another one to store the crazy stuff I find in the ocean. Do you have a skimmer on this guy
Lol I've got a 90 sitting in my garage waiting for me too. Once I get that up and going I think I'll be done hahahah.

I don't have a skimmer. The only one I've seen that will fit and still be able to close the lid is the Coralife one but I keep seeing mixed reviews on it so I haven't pulled the trigger yet. That and fro. My understanding I'll have to pull my filter out of the first chamber and run the skimmer there. I suppose that really isn't that big of a deal I'd just need to build an intake style basket in the back like I did with my pico. Regardless I wouldn't be able to run it while I'm treating the Ich though so.. dang if I do dang if I don't at the current moment.

What about the aquamax hob1? Have you tried that tank transfer method?
I really like the idea of having this tank an AIO with nothing hanging on the outside of the tank but if it isn't too large, or expensive for that matter, then I might have to look into it.

I've thought about it and I honestly don't think I want to do something that drastic just yet. I kinda like my clown (Pepe Le' Pew) so I really don't want to stress him out too much. Or shift around the tank too much. I know it's not much, I've only got 5 different rocks in my tank so it would be easy enough.

The two polyps that popped off. Ones doing a little better than the other. Probably because it's upside down. Oops.

But while my frogspawn was irritated, my GSP and orange mouth Zoas are going crazy!!

Those are expennnnnnsive! Lol well $230 isn't terrible but that is a decent amount.

Thanks! They definitely could look better. Well I guess just my Acans and RBTA. I think I would rather put money towards a new light before I got a skimmer. A quick water change once a week or so should do the job the skimmer would.

Nothin really new here. Just plugging away. Headed to the LFS later today, who knows what I'll find I need haha

So I went in for water and ended up with 3 new frags, a maxijet 900 and some loc-line lol. Yaaay for more flow!

Ok! Everything is in and running. I'm not sure why everyone says the Mj900 is louder than the stock bc pump. I don't think it is at all. There's definitely more pressure however since I split my output in 2 I don't think there's more pressure now just more flow. If that makes sense.

Once everything opens up I'll get some pictures!

These guys aren't fully opened up just yet. Pretty decent sized frag especially for $5. They grew a little awkwardly. Once they all open up I'll snap another picture with all my light on tomorrow.

Again not fully opened. These were much more orange in the frag tank. One of these days I'll get better lighting!

The first 3 pictures are of my new frags. I have some more orange mouthed and some with green mouth and tentacles (I think that's what you call them lol) but the green ones are currently ticked off about the crab on them.

You can kind see the green ones. I got both of those on the same frag plug the orange are still on. The greens came unglued and I thought I lost them till I saw them one random day behind the orange. When I first got them, there were 3 orange and 2 green!
