Guys I've seen the Trops Acid trip mother colony with my own eyes and believe it or not, it looked that good before they chopped it up. But this comes from someone who just sold a frag of it, so take it FWIW lol.

I saw it with my own eyes to, and I am with Viva. Trops Acid Trip chalice is out of this world..... There is no way I would have bought this chalice it if I didnt see it in person. Once I did see it I had to add it to my collection...

Well, back to the ECC, since we now have a separate thread to talk about pictures :) I think mine looks like Ian's. Looking at that pic in the link on the vendor website, I see a huge amount of rim with no red on it, so I guess I'm not surprised I have no red on mine, yet.

Photo magic = magic money for all these chalice sellers. Have had my share and most didnt come close to the pics representation. I think a turd would look really good in a bucket of saltwater under powerbrites, actinics and all these other light tricks some of these places use.

I have the ECC and it is small, but has begun to show its colors in full lighting as well as actinics. I'll have to take a daylight pic for u all.

Here is the actinic shot.

My Ecc is the size of a nickle. Looks like the mother colony. My piece came from Jim at eyecatchingcorals.com

you cant grow your coral and sustain them with just actinics so why do people even post pics of just actinic. Maybe a few hours a day then back to the regular lights but I want my coral to look good all times when I walk by my tank not when I have to be on a schedule to view. Sorry Chris not picking on you.

So it has red on it already? Did you get it that way? Mine is about the size of a dime, but grew from a tiny piece, and never had any red to begin with.

This is not correct in 2 ways...

-Junior got his colony that he split with a few people from a guy getting out of the hobby

-the 4 color and the ECC hybrid are 2 different corals. I have both and they're nothing alike...

really... I was wrong that Junior got directly from Jim. I am sure that Junior & Jim got their frag from same guy. Junior named his 4 color and Jim named his ECC Hybrid Watermelon. Where are you, Junior?

Anyway, this chalice is very awsome. Mine is a little bigger than size of quarter. It has red on it & three eyes

FWIW, here's my piece...

I will say it looks nicer than I remember but it still doesn't look like the colony pic...

How are you getting yellow eyes, Chris? Isn't this piece supposed to have green eyes?

I run 250W DE Phoenix on Icecaps in PFO pendants. 31" tall tank. I have very clear water thanks to lots of vodka, ozone, and carbon. Bleached it out twice from too much light until I learned my lesson. I only recently moved it out from a shaded ledge on the bottom into full light, but still on the floor of my tank.

I'm running 250w radiums and dosing Prodibio and Ozone. The ecc us in the frag tank though. Same water but under only 5" of water. So it's getting a ton of light.

Mine is the same as Ian when I got it almost 8 months ago and was really upset as its more brownish than red. well now it has double the size and the red color popped out ...

I may have just done too much too fast after getting the frag. Since it seems happy where it is, and is getting a new eye, I'll leave it be. Hopefully the red will pop out sooner than later.
