Emergency help all fish in tank died

Hello,

First, Is this tank only 3 weeks old? Did you QT the fish first? Do you have a sump?

A 55 gallon is pretty small for 1 Tang let alone 4 and you have a very heavy bio-load. You should add fish slowly so the tank can adjust and monitor them in a QT before hand to make sure you don't introduce anything into your tank. For the mandarine you need a very established tank with a booming pod population if you dont have this they will starve.

I know its very exciting to get new fish but patients is VERY important in this hobby.

At this point my recommendation is to try to get whats left of the fish (if any) into a QT tank and treat them with copper if they do have ich because you have corals or inverts in your display you cant use copper. After you take the fish out or they die whichever happens first you should leave your tank fishless for 1-3 months to eradicate anything that's making them sick. After about 1-2 months of being fishless set up a QT and get 1 or 2 fish and observe them for a month. If the fish is healthy it will be ready to go into your display tank. If you proper quarantine procedure you could avoid some of this but you did also over stock your tank.

If you use copper in a QT MAKE SURE that you DO NOT use any equipment that has been in copper water in you display system.

The expression on the clown in the last picture pretty much says it all.

Have you tested for ammonia? Looks like disease is moving through the tank, and deaths are spiking ammonia.

I’d get out the remainders and treat them.

This is not a good picture but if that says copper then its definitely not safe for coral and inverts. You need to get some carbon in there. I would go buy a few small tanks so you can treat these fish before you nuke your whole tank. At this point you have already started contaminating your tank with copper.

You can leave the shrimp in with the coral it wont be effected by whatever the fish have. The reason I suggested that you leave the tank fishless is because you cant treat the main tank without killing off corals and inverts.

did u see the copper i have? ok with my coral? i try to treat them today 4oz for 50 gallon bottle said 2 days 1 time in 40 oz for 50 gallon

I see it says copper free. I have no experience with this product and I try not to add meds to my DT at all cost.Maybe someone has some experience with it. Someone mentioned earlier that is could be other things besides ich so keep that in mind. I would still run the tank fishless for 2 or 3 months to make sure there is nothing left or you will just keep killing fish. There is plenty of resources on this forum about different kinds of fish, stocking, proper QT procedure. Even though I am a new member over the years I have gotten lots of great information from this site.

When I started I made a mistake and had to leave my tank fishless for a few months then I quarantined and never had an issue with my fish getting sick.

i didnt do water change yet cause tank is new

Good rule of thumb is if a fish ever dies in the tank, you should do a water change.

Did the staff at your LFS guide you through the tank setup process?

Someone previously mentioned that saltwater is a game of patience. Brand new tanks (from scratch) should be cycled for 2-3 months before adding any stock. And even then you start with 1 or 2 fish. Those first fish would still ideally go through a quarantine system.

You need to be doing water changes! You have a new tank with a very heavy load! You need to spend some time and do lots of research before you start adding fish again. As noted by Hemmdog you need to leave the tank fishless or fallow whatever you want to refer to it as.

Okay here we go, you had the right idea to use live rock from your previous tank but you simply overstocked too soon and most likely caused an ammonia spike which is poison and stresses the fish out severely causing ich and as Someone else mentioned Brooke as well (another deadly disease).

You got yourself into a rough situation and you can’t just add more stuff to the tank to fix it.

IF your yellow tang and 3 Chromis survive you will HAVE to quarantine them in a separate tank and treat, there are many methods but copper is most common.

You also now have ich in your main tank and will HAVE to leave it fishless for 72 days, there are theories and methods to lessen this time. Off the top I believe they are

1.) hyposalinity (lowering salt level)

and 2.) increasing temperature (which will kill ich faster ) but not possible for you if you plan on keeping the corals and shrimp in there unless you get a SECOND quarantine tank.

basically you now have ich in your tank and the ONLY way to safely proceed is by buying a separate “quarantine” tank putting your surviving fish in it.

It seems like your wanting to simply treat the fish let them heal and get back to adding stuff in theory this COULD work but it probably won’t and the ich in your system will just keep attacking and killing new fish.

I'm not trying to bash you I honestly want you to have success. You MUST research EVERYTHING you put in the tank! I can tell you did little or no research because you got a Mandarin which if it didnt get sick would have starved to death. Take time while you let your tank go fishless and do plenty of research so next time you wont have to go trough the pain of a fish die off and you have great success!
