Sorry about your fish. Some tough way to learn about the hobby. I hope once you move to your new home you’ll give it a go with some new better ideas for success of your fish and your enjoyment if the hobby.

Sounds like a good strategy then, again I’d want confirmation by others that allowing the rock and sand to dry would deal with ich and if running the tank with tap water would kill ich that got into the equipment etc. and also how to deal with the shrimp and corals, not sure.

I don’t think it would cure all ich. The main catalyst for long coral quarantine times is tomonts. Encysted tomonts can survive for 73 days and there is no known medication that kills them reliably. Without tomonts, we could realistically quarantine coral and hard fixtures in 4-6 weeks.

I will be moving within the next few months too but I'm using this as an opportunity to prepare for an upgrade! Im collecting equipment and building the tank setup now for the move. I am going to get the new tank setup and running (no fish or anything just to cycle). This way when I move my new tank will be broken down and setup at my new house and it will be cycled and ready to go and running and I can move everything from my nano right into the new tank! It will make the move safer and easier I wont have to leave my fish in a bucket while I try to rush and get a tank setup. However my 75 gallon freshwater cichlid tank will be another story.

I'm jealous! My reef will move into a 40B maybe a 75 gallon if I can get one but if I move into a 75 I will need more than just another light and some dry rock and sand. I dont think my 2 MP10s will be enough for a 75. I like discus but a FOWLR is tempting as well tough choices. I do have to say I like my cichlids but they are jerks to say the least.

Not to sound like an jerk, but why would you set up a new tank when you knew you were moving in a few weeks? This is where the patience part of the hobby comes in.

Also you should probably find a new LFS, like Mykawl said, they're most likely taking advantage of you. Any good LFS would have asked "What size tank is this tang going into". If they didn't then they might just not be very knowledgeable.

Going forward, like people have mentioned, this site is great for learning a lot of very useful information in the saltwater hobby.

If you ever see a fish you're unsure about in a store, Liveaquaria is a great website that gives a good quick explanation on the fish's requirements. Care level, tank size, diet, compatibility, etc.
It can be really helpful to you going forward when planning a stock for your future tank. Also these forums can lend a big help too.

You have several ailments. I see ich, velvet, possibly brook, and likely secondary bacterial infections from all of the other ailments. You’d be wise to heed the advice given here, slow down, do your research, and quarantine your fish.

Copper (2.0 PPM copper power or coppersafe) + Metroplex in QT will take care of the main issues. The other bacterial infections if shown on other fish can be helped by adding kanaplex and furan 2. Do this in a quarantine.

You’ll need an ammonia alert badge and some biospira to seed the HOB filter in QT. You’ll need an air stone and bubbler and a small powerhead to break the surface as well (mixing all of these meds consumes oxygen).

Treat for 30 days with copper, 14 with the rest. Test with a Hanna copper checker. Good luck!

Is it reef safe? Im scared to used it but the guy at LFS said ok with coral

Anything invert/coral safe is ineffective. Ich and other parasites are inverts. I wouldn’t mess with snake oils.

I know what I’ve said is not fun or easy, I’ve done it many times. But that’s the best course of action. Sorry
