Eric's 300Gal Build!

I took the camera out today and tried taking a few pictures of some of the corals in the tank and I definitely need more practice. The camera just doesn't like the blue light.

Anyways here they are, I do have a question. All my SPS seem to be doing okay in terms of color and growth but some don't have much polyp extension. What could be the cause of this?

A few more pictures

Here is an updated picture of a red monti I added back in January.

Here are a few pictures of some corals from this afternoon.

Purple polyp birdsnest and to the right you can see a section of CITR Red Dragon frag I got from John aka Copps!

Hollywood stunner or Fire Lamollosa

This is a mini colony of Blue Tenius acropora that I got yesterday it just needs to color up.

Toxic green tort mini colony

This is a before and after of the same colony from when it was introduced on Feb 26 of this year.

A friend came over on Monday and took a few pictures of the tank. Here are some of them which show a little bit more of the tank itself.

Polyp extension could be due to several things.
Flow, lighting, water parameter issues.
It's really hard to say without actually standing in front of your tank.

Coming along nicely! Love the coral and tank shots...

Well I guess I should update this thread. Not much has happened since the last update other than I lost most of my corals. Everything was going fine for a few months and then in the blink of an eye it all started to go downhill. About a months before it all went downhill I began to run Carbon & GFO 24/7. Some hardcore SPS keepers suggesting my issue was the GFO and Carbon and it kinda made sense since all the corals began to die after I installed the Carbon and GFO reactors. I decided to unplug both reactors but it guess it was too late because I did not see any improvement.

It was almost at the point of taking everything down and just giving up because I was doing everything right or at least I thought I was but the corals just kept dying. After a lot of frustration and money down the drain for lack of a better word I decide to just sit back hope that I could turn things around.

All this happened several months ago and I have slowly started to add corals and they seem to be doing just fine. I also changed my water change routine to weekly instead of monthly and this has helped a lot. I change 30 gallons weekly and a 350 gallon system so thats about 9%. Eventually Im going to be moving to 50 gallons a week which is about 15%.

Either way here are some pictures of how the tank is today 09/27/2015. It still has a long way to go but I feel Im on the right track once again even though I need to make a few changes in the in-tank water flow. I have 4x RW15's and while they keep all the detritus off the rocks there is a lot of detritus collecting on both ends of the tank and behind the rocks which are positioned between 4-5 inches off the back glass. I have the wave makers facing each other, 2 on each end of the tank. They are controlled by my apex controller and I have customs profiles setup that change the speed and change modes throughout the day but its just not enough. Anybody have any suggestions?

Ok now here are the pictures….

and now some of the fish.

Great build Eric. Btw, BC13 on swfmas. Might have to see this in person. Keep up the great work

I have seen it in person and it is awesome. dbl on swfmas!

I got some goodies coming next week from WWC from yesterday's live sale. Will post pictures once they settle in.

Here is a sneak peak of some of them. (Pictures are from the live sale thread but they are obviously WYSIWYG)

I'm excited to receive them. Never bought anything from WWC before so I don't know what to expect but they have a great reputation so I know I won't be disappointed.

Got my order this morning. This was my first order from WWC and I didn't know what to expect but the frags are awesome! They look just like what I saw on the pictures. Overall I was satisfied with the 9 frag pack I ordered. I only wish they would had included at least one freebie with the number of frags I ordered and what I spent but its all good, maybe next time :). Outstanding job WWC

(The pictures are from this morning, frags had been in the tank for about 5 minutes. I apologize for the bad iPhone pics)

New pics from today!! Purchased a Avast Marine Porthole a few weeks ago so I decide to give it a try.
